Poll coming....

I absolutely HATE instant messaging. Call me on the phone. That said, I know that in the next few years, with twin girls, they are going to want to IM. I'm not sure that I will allow it.

I would have no idea what was being said back and forth. And I know I can't protect them from all that is out there.

But no way can I see me letting them talk on the phone while IMing the person they are talking with, which I hear does happen. :confused3

I love it. It's a great way to keep in touch with people who live far away without having to pay for large phone bills. Because of IM's I keep in touch with my family more.

I use it all the time. Even at work, we all IM each other, even if we are just at the next desk! (I work at a software company, so I guess that is just the computer geek in us :teeth: )

I would absolutely go nuts.

I used to use it all the time...
now...not so much. it's blocked at work for one.

I'm not a phone person either.

just email me

Oh, I hate talking on the phone! If I could do everything via email & IM, I'd be a happy camper!

I love it. My husband and i keep in touch this way. We chat just about every night.

I love it. I use it mostly when I'm at work. I can't be tied up on the phone at work so this is how I stay in touch.

love it.

i don't have to call my dh when i'm at work. makes it easier to multitask.

we are required to be on it for work too. easier to communicate across our offices that way.

I enjoy IM. 1--our cordless phone ALWAYS dies, and thats if you can even find it charged, 2-- I can chat with several friends at the same time and 3--no LD charges!.......oh and 4--I can eat and chat

Beside the expensive, infrequent phone calls, IM was the main form of communication I had with dh for a year. So for me it is one of the best things ever!! I would have gone CRAZY if it weren't for IM!

Now I might feel differently if someone I LIKED IMd me (my family calls or emails), but the only people who IM me are my MIL and SIL. MIL spells so horrid that I can't figure out what the heck she is trying to say...the requests for money I get though (never give her any so I wish she'd leave me alone  ) and SIL just complains about MIL. For the past several months I have left the "Angela has gotten lost in the wilderness...send Vin Diesel ASAP" message on LOL. SIL finally emailed to see where I 'really' was.

I LOVE it! I hate talking on the phone so I much prefer email and IM.

The only time I've ever used IM was when my son was in Iraq. Otherwise, I hate IM. Probably because I use my computer to work from home and hate being interrupted. I even turn my telephone off when I'm working. Speaking of which...I'd better finish scanning the board and get back to it! I have a ton of stuff to do!

I like it. At work it's great for leaving a message on someone's desk when they've stepped away. Voice mail can be ignored too easily.

BTW, my kids are 11 and 13. They both want IM at home, but we're not allowing it yet. I realize we'll probably give in the end, but I don't know what event, condition, or milestone will cause that.

I love it. It's an inexpensive way to keep in contact with my daughter. I also talk to her via EQ2.

For me, it's only useful for telling my husband upstairs that dinner is ready (instead of yelling up to him). :flower:

When I am on line, I don't want to be bothered, elsewise.
