Inspired: What movies have you walked out of?

Sharktale - I wanted to leave, but I had my 12 year old brother with me.

You must have seen Sharktale twice because I know I saw it with you as well!!!

Eye of the Beholder with Ewan McGregor and Ashely Judd. An hour in we had NO idea what was going on.

I forgot about this one. We didn't walk out on this one. but we should have. I totally agree with what you say here. The only redeeming quality of this movie is A Judd.

Didn't walk out of it, because we were watching on VCR, but the absolute WORST movie I have ever seen is the John Waters movie "Hairspray".

Seeing Devine eat dog poop was a bit too much.

I'm a fan - sort of - of the old John Waters movies, and so I know that the movie where Divine ate the dog poop was Pink Flamingos. Hairspray was the beginning of the more "mainstream" John Waters, and that's when he became boring to me.

Side note - Pink Flamingos was on premium cable a couple of months ago! I think it was Encore, or maybe Flix. I never thought that day would come!

Now that I thinhk about it, here's a few more:

Drive-in movie I drove away from after a few minutes remake of Lord of the Flies

Movie I wanted to leave but was with two people who liked it: Drop Dead Fred

Movie so bad I had to stay and watch: Gymkata

I was really upset too when my son came home from college one day and said that was the film he had to watch in college. I never saw it and never wanted to but I think its horrible that these college kids were forced to watch it by their nutty professor. The only film I had to watch in college was Citizen Kane, and I loved it.
Well, Clockwork Orange was nominated for Best Picture in the year it was released. Depending on what class your son was taking, the professor wouldn't nesessarily have to be nutty to have his/her class watch it.

FWIW, I liked the movie. I read the book first, though, and knew what to expect.

Ah, you are right, of course. See, that movie made such an impression on me that I blocked the name out!!!

And was the closing credits sequence (the guy with the acrobatic orafice) shown on cable? :scared1:

I can only remember one movie I walked out of in theaters. I don't remember the name, but it was some sci-fi movie in the 80's that involved a war between some people and aliens on a futuristic planet. It was horrible.
I also don't remember if I saw Joe vs. the Volcano at theaters, but I know I didn't finish it because it is probably the worst movie I've ever seen.

Recently, I've turned off these movies about half way through:
Dukes of Hazard
Life Aquatic

I'm surprised to see that some of you have walked out of some of my favorite movies. I love all these:
Kill Bill
Be Cool
LOTR
Pulp Fiction
Four Weddings and a Funeral
Napoleon Dynamite
Lost in Translation
Shakespeare in Love
Vanilla Sky

I have never finished The English Patient. I slept through the end of it in
the theater. Since then, I've started it three times, and have given up on
it. Maybe there's a splashy ending, but I've never managed to sit through
the loooong beginning and loooong middle of the movie to get there.
Don't bother. It doesn't get any better. I honestly don't understand the good reviews here. This movie is one of the worst, most painfully boring movies I've ever had the displeasure of suffering through.

I loved Legally Blonde, but I thought Legally Blonde 2 was quite possibly the most embarassingly stupid movie I have ever seen. I was embarassed for the people actually in it.
Yep. The first one was corny, but very cute and funny. The sequel was horrid.

Ugh. I SAW that! :scared1: It was the absolute worse movie I've ever seen. Hands down. All the others take a back seat to it (for me). The mind does have a way of healing itself. I had forgotten all about it.

Now if I can just do it again. :sad2: :crazy2:

4 Weddings and a Funeral...

Didnt find it as amusing as everyone else seemed to. It got 30 minutes, and I was gone.

I don't like it much either and always thought I was the only one!! I think it has something to do with Andie MacDowell (sp?); even her voice gets on my nerves...

The only movie I ever walked out of was The Cider House Rules; I wouldn't even consider myself overly pro-life but it just felt like they were doing all they could to say that abortion was a noble decision...and beyond that it bored me to tears.

Oh, I also walked out of the very end of "Wild Things"--I should have walked out a lot sooner, though. The nearly full-frontal nudity with Kevin Bacon was way more than I ever wanted to see...the only reason I'd gone in the first place was that my date had told me "Oh, you'll like it---it's a detective movie!" Yeah...right.

I agree with you about Andie MacDowells voice, and so did the director of Greystoke, the Legend of Tarzan. He hated her voice too, and had Glenn Close do all of Andie MacDowells lines in the film!

Dead Ringers!!

Except I could barely walk out because my knees were glued together after seeing the sadistic gynecological instruments

I feel oddly committed to movies, and I don't go that often, so I've never walked out on one. That being said, if my then BF/now DH hadn't been with me and wanted to see it, I would have left both The Hulk and 2Fast2Furious in a heartbeat. Ugh. I did however leave someone's movie night party at their house during Very Bad Things. Oh, I HATED that movie!

I have never walked out on a movie, but there are a few I wish I had. Mainly Closer, starring Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Clive Owen and Natalie Portman. I don't usually get offended by movies, but that movie was the most offensive movie I have ever seen. Also, given the extreme amount of sexual situations and language, Natalie Portman looked like a little girl compared to the other actors. I can honestly say that I felt dirty watching that movie.
The Kill Bill movies are way to gory for me to stomach, but I like the overall storyline. However, I have seen them once, and I have no desire to ever see them again.

I have never walked out of a movie because I am always hopeful that the movie will improve. But, the movies I wish I had walked out of and demanded my money back are The Crying Game, AI and The Abyss. Snorefest!!!!

Oh, man. I HATED Closer. I do not understand the critical acclaim for that one. There wasn't a likable character in the movie and I thought it was just plain stupid and pointless.

I can stick it out in almost any movie, but drew the line with "Sin City". We went to see it on the recommendation of my oldest son, what a mistake that was....yuck!
