Well, technically our very hand me down first set matched in a lovely avocado green! 
Washer went first, replaced it, then dryer, replaced it. When we sold our first house, the buyers wanted the washer and dryer, so we left them and bought a new set after we moved. The dryer went first on that set and we replaced it. We gave those to my in-laws when we moved to a new house with the washer and dryer built in, and they are both still working and mismatched. We just bought a new set because we moved again and let the built in washer and dryer stay (which I hated, so no big loss there!).
