I hated that I didn't fit in with any of the cliques. I wasn't rich, a cheerleader, a jock, a goat roper, a geek, a brain or a stoner. I was a lower middle class kid who was chubby, less than average looking and too depressed to participate in any activities. It was a very lonely existence.
I really despised the way everyone treated each other. High school girls are so cruel to each other and simple things like an ill timed gas attack (doesn't EVERYONE fart once in a while and how long can YOU hold it in?) could earn you a nickname that stuck for years and the humiliation that went along with it. (No that wasn't me but someone I knew). Teenage boys aren't much better either. My brother was a year ahead of me in high school. Once when he was really mad at me for who knows what he started a rumor that I was "easy" and had contracted syphyliis. Within days the entire school had heard it and I was leaving school daily in tears. I quit school shortly thereafter and never looked back. I wouldn't wish high school on my worst enemy if it wasn't required.
