Inspired by the Kid & Tattoos thread...

A few years my kids were talking with me about tattoos (they were probably 4 and 6 at the time). I asked them what they would want to get if they got a tattoo and we wrote it down on a piece of paper. My younger girl wanted Ariel or Dora the Explorer, my older girl wanted Arthur or Belle. Now I can tease them if I had let them get a tattoo when they were a kid they would have Dora or Arthur on them. They are SO embarrassed :lmao: and they've realized the choices they might make regarding a tattoo as a kid probably won't seem like a good idea years down the road. I'm hoping it will keep them from getting a tattoo as a teen.

Well, I got my Belle and Sebastian tattooed on me when I was 30, so some things just don't go away. (I say it's in honor of my kid's names, but it also about my love for Disney!;))

Oh gosh--I'm not really sure.

A bit early for NewKids on the Block :eek:....

I have no idea--but I'm afraid of needles, so have never had an inkling of a desire to be inked.

I was also 13 in 1983, but I guess we were listening to different styles of music because I am fairly confident I would have had something Duran Duran related permanently etched on me. :scared:

Ahhh, 1985, it would have been Duran Duran....

Um...hehe...

When I was 13, I wanted the symbol from Duran Duran's New Moon on Monday video tattooed somewhere...you know, this one:

So 6 years ago, as a 30th birthday present to myself, guess what I got for the 2nd of my 3 tattoos?

(My 3rd, BTW, is a tribal-ish sun...for "(Reach Up For the) Sunrise" )

Let's see... 1993. Definitely a barbed wire tattoo, and probably something Guns N' Roses related. LOL.

Hmm, 1977. Mine probably would have said "Foxy" with a fox face for the O and a tail on the Y. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

And I would have regretted it by the time I was 14! :rotfl2:

I was 13 in 1980 and I would take a pretty good guess that it would have been a roller skate I would have chosen. From the time I was 12, until 14 years old, I lived, ate, breathed roller skating. Every Friday and Saturday afternoon and night, if I wasn't sick or on vacation with the family, I spent it at the roller rink. And a fair number of Sundays, too.

wow - interesting thread -
I was a band geek - so probably a treble clef. Which I wouldn't totally hate today - but wouldn't be thrilled with either.

I was 13 in 1988..so i would prob. have something to do with Deff Lepard or something like that.

I was 13 in 1978. I feel sure it would have been a surfboard with The Beach Boys logo or my BF, Stephen's name.

Either a Backstreet Boys logo or Leonardo DiCaprio's face :rotfl:

Charming23-We'd have the same tattoo!! :rotfl: Although I would've waited until I was 14-15 as I didn't know about them until I was 14 :)

oh how our BSB 4 EVR tattoos would look today! LoL

Most likely a cross on my ankle

Or something to do with things I collected

Wizards, wolves or gargoyles

Wow, interesting thread. :scared:

I imagine in 1970-something I would have had the same things I had on my necklaces back then: either an italian horn  or a marijuana leaf. :scared1: (So glad I never got one!)

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Funny answer! What about the Italian jinx hand? Everyone I knew who wore a horn charm also had a hand on the same chain.

FWIW, when I was 13 in 1975, tatoos were something no female ever got. I mean, I never would have even considered wanting one. And frankly, my feelings haven't changed one bit since. ;)

Yes, that!

I had a few marijuana leaf things and I had no idea whatsoever what it was. A notebook, necklace, tee shirt. I can't believe my parents didn't know what it was -- otherwise what were they thinking letting me wear it? They were about as straight laced as they came, so it's possible they didn't know either.

OMG :lmao:

I agree. None of my female friends had any, and only a handful of my guy friends had any, and if they did it was like a small shamrock or something. I guess we completely missed the tattoo movement. ;)

Ha! I can't claim I didn't know what it was. :teeth: I guess my parents didn't. The one thing my father threw out of mine was my Disco Sucks shirt. I was fuming when I found out he'd tossed it in the trash. I'd gotten it at a concert somewhere, can't even remember where. All my friends had them, too. Later on disco grew on me, though, so it was probably just as well. Ah, the good ol days.

Hanging head in shame--a unicorn head with a rainbow mane.... It was the early 80s. So very glad that magic markers aren't permanent. :lmao:

I was 13 in 2005, in either 6th or 7th grade, depending on the time of year.
I probably would have a duck inked on me somewhere, or something from Wicked.

At 13 I was totally in love with Jordan Knight (New Kids on the Block) and Jon Bon Jovi (crazy combo huh?)

While I am soooo glad that was never a though for me, I would have wished now if I had gotten one that it was JBJ, I still love him! NKOTB, nope. But truth is, I saw NKOTB a dozen times in concert and JBJ, though I still am desperate too (if he ever comes close enough,) I never have, so I have a pretty strong feeling, oh who am I kidding??? It would hvae been NKOTB.
