I was wondering something. What kind of sandals does everyone buy? Let me be more specific...leather or that rubber (I think that's what they are) kind? I thought of buying leather for my first two trips, but decided against it. I thought about the water rides and didn't want walk around with wet sandals waiting for them to dry. I bought a pair of...I think, and don't quote me on the name, Colorado's. I thought they were a nice pair of sandals. But the one thing I did noticed was about 5-6 days into my trip I started to get a sore on the bottom of my right foot (the ball of the foot to be more specific). I switched to shoes and prevented the sore from turning in to a blister. Would a nice pair of leather sandals prevent a sore from happening, or does it really matter? I'm thinking with a nice soft leather bed for the foot to rest on this wouldn't be a problem...but again, I've never owned a pair of leather sandals. I'd love some advice. Thanks in advance.

I've said it before here, you need to try Teva. It's really the only way to go in sandals. If you buy the standard types, with the nylon straps, they dry fast. The pair I just bought, Terra-Fi, the soles are like sneakers. I personally get NASTY blisters from wet sneakers, so that's something I won't wear if I know I'm getting wet. I could see leather taking a year and a day to dry.

One other tip, BREAK THEM IN PRIOR to your trip.

The real difference between Teva and other sandles is the way thay follow your foot when you walk. It's like walking on clouds.

I bought the nubuck leather Teva sandles. It poured, like up to the knee while we were at WDW. The Teva's got damp but weren't soaking they were always dry by morning and we have to sleep with the ac on and still they were dry. They never got stiff as some leather does. They stayed soft!!

I broke down and finally bought a pair of Tevas before my last trip. They were great except I had a little problem wearing them on the 2nd day of the trip. After wearing them for 12+ hours the next day the arch's bothered me, they felt to high up, switch to shoes for a day then back to the Tevas. Way to hot for shoes and socks.
When my DS buys a pair of sandals the footbed has to be just about smooth. If they have any kind of groves or bumps the bottom of his feet bother him. This time he bought River Rafters @ our local Sportsmart. and he walked 11 days straight in them without problem.
Also spray your feet with antiperspirant just before sandals or shoes and socks.
My DH thought I was nuts (as usual) when I told him to do this. On every single trip we have taken, no matter how long or short, he has problems with sore spots on his feet. Well we just returned from 11 days and him spraying his feet every morning, and not 1 complaint or problem with his feet. (miracles do happen!)

Antiperspirant? What kind do you use? I never thought about doing this before.

I just bought the cheapest brand, I think it was Sauve in the deodorant section of Walmart or Target. Make sure it says antiperspirant and not just deodorant.

The wonderful thing about Teva is that they are fully adjustable!!

TEVA fitting hints
When you get the sandles,
open all the vecro straps, including the heal.

1. Now place your arch over the shoes arch. THEN,adjust the ankle strap[don't worry about the amount of velro showing thats the design feature of getting the correct fit]making sure you have flexed your toes as far as possible toward your knee, and the strap is comfortable, not pinching or too tight.

2.Adjust the Heel. This is the KEY to the sandles fit[and where the half size comes into play!] You want it to cup your heel like this < While still keeping your arch fitted correctly.

3.Look at your toes are they in the foot bed comfortably. If they are to close to the front edge you have over tighten the heel too much! If your toes are too far from the front edge, the you will need to tighten the heel. [don't fret about there being a lot of foot bed, when you get to walking you will notice that the sandle follows your foot]

4.NOW walk. You will feel where you need adjustments. Don't be scared to start all over, again. It took 3 trys to get mine adjusted.
5. Here is the BEUATY in the design. Say you woke up this morning with swollen feet.[a probability after a day in MK!!] You just loose the tight strap!! say afer waking around you notice that your feet are back to normal, you just retight the straps!!

6.Any area that is rubbing you the wrong way can be made to fit better!! something you can't say about regular shoes,if the toes pinch you are out of luck!

What I loved about my Teva Sandles was wearing them home on the plane! My feet could swell and I was never uncomfortable because I could loosen the staps as far as was needed!!!

HAPPY FEET = HAPPY WDW TRIP!!
