I certainly expect a certain level of service, as I do at any other resort. However, I checked the POS and other documents I signed, and saw no mention of "Disney Magic" or "Pixie Dust", nor any guarantees of medical benefits (lower blood pressure, reduced stress levels). I believe it is reasonable to expect polite Cast Members who provide clean rooms, with all promised amenities, available on or by the promised time; if you're looking for talking animals, birds that land on your shoulders, mice that do your tailoring or the ability to read by fairy light, there's not a time-share on earth than can provide that to you.

From a practical, cynical, harsh reality perspective, anyone who bought into DVC expecting "Magic" was, to be blunt, taken in by the sales pitch. Sadly, Disney is subject to the same market and labor realities that any corporation is subject to - and the same demanding, "I'm entitled", never-can-be-pleased subset of customers.

From a positive, joyous, and optimistic point-of-view (which is what I usually have or strive for), the "Magic" comes from within. CM a little cranky? I'll try to cheer him or her up with a smile. Have to carry my own luggage? I'm thankful I can still carry my bags. The SSR pool not 30 seconds from my room? I have to carry my food from the counter to the table? I'm glad I can still walk. I have to risk exposure to the sun or rain in SSR's corridors? I'm glad I can still see.

IMHO, it all boils down to this: all we bought was lodging - that's all we have a right to expect.

I voted for I don't agree with either one of them, for exactly what DrT has already written.

prices do count more than service for most of america..........the proof is in the stock mkt.....just look at walmart stock price since 1970...........it blows disney out of th ewater.......walmart is successful because they deliver products cheaper and they are everywhere...........they fill societies' needs and wants, apparently quite well..................Disney DVC product is a timeshare with some disney flare..........people clearly have expectations of Disney that are unrealistic but the management, i think, does a great job of keeping a large bunch of us happy...............all these threads show there is alot of variety in the market place..........we all dont agree on alot of things but i think we all agree DVC is a worthwhile product whose benefits far outweigh paying cash only prices for close to the same product.............however if you cut your teeth on concierge level disney service.........dont expect DVC to match it because ot cant and wont.........but it also does not represent poor customer service at the desk or in the parks.............

Ok fair enough, here's my viewpoint:

I think it's hysterical that the starter of the 16 page (waste of our time) thread voted in the poll!!!!

How can you tell he voted, I missed that.

I would have been more fair to say I disagree with Ricapito entirely, and I mostly agree with you. But I don't agree with a few little parts. I view DVC as a separate entity, I don't wrap it into the rest of Disney.

i understand completely............and trust me i take it in no offense.........i think things like this give you an insight to your fellow members and how people make decisions and how people think about things..........gives you insight into how they think about alot of things really

With all due respect, that is the kind of thinking that causes WDWZues and the other CM's he mentioned to generalize (negatively) about DVC members. How you can you possibly perform a broad character evaluation based on an opinion on a Disney discussion board? This kind of "insight" leads to sweeping generalization about people you haven't even met.

What I know about you is limited to how you feel DVC, nothing more (except that you drive a Lexus - would you be surprised to know that I drive a 94 Honda Civic? :D ). Let's not make broad leaps about how people "think about alot of things" lest we be guilty of the same attitude that inflicts WDWZues and for that matter the small number of DVCers he (she?) complains about.

very picky................but i still think it does give you insight into things..........and no a 94 honda civc is a nice car and good on gas and has an excellent maintence and longevity history...........i'd say you did well with it 11 yrs later............i did not buy my car for the same reasons you did............but when i owned a honda civic i bought for many of those reason before i gave it to my daughter

OK...looks like its time to do the secret DVC handshake and make up

make up????? for what i was never mad at anyone here..........this was honest discourse.........nothing more or less from my vantage point

i have one question ,does anyone know for sure that this alledged cm is actually a CM.Also do we really know anyone else feels like him.Do we know if he is even good at his job or maybe he should be doing something else.I have seen alot of threads since his and they seem to be tearing this board apart. Now we have to vote on who we believe or feels is right.Well my vote goes to all of us who have a good time at Disney despite the room problems,cm attitudes both good and bad.I also beleive we shoud EXPECT clean rooms in a timely fashion from a FRIENDLY staff.I dont think it matters how much you pay for your vacation 69. to 1000 a nite.I would think the place would want your bussiness back and treat you accordingly. We all have some strong opinions and point of views that doesnt make one right over the other. What I do beleive is were not the people he was talking about and if you are shame on you. yelling at Cm's at the front desk accompplishes nothing but ruining your own vacation because that will be all you focus on till you get home. They are not responsable for the way Disney assigns roooms. If you have a problem get a supervisor.

I agree, nothing unhealthy about any of this debate. i wish i could spend more time monitoring and contributing to it actually but i have to earn my keep at the office sometimes. FWIW, bongo59 and I do have something in common, we both drive a Lexus. I just bought mine with higher expectations. :earboy2:

Take Care
