Inspired by "money is no object" vacation thread...

Vegas, anywhere snowy(yuck), and any islands or what not, we are not beach people..

Just curious- that rules out a lot of places. Other than Disney where would you go?

Europe. My son has gone there a couple of times, my parents have been there a ton but I have no desire to fly overseas........maybe England.

zero desire to go to the places people go to and watch spring training, nothing against those specific destinations but no desire to go for that activity, also going to a car race, again zero desire for that

I know those aren't specific places but are popular vacation destinations

Hmmm....probably anywhere that had to do with skiing, Vegas, and those club med places where there is nothing to do but lay on a beach.

I plan on visiting either China or South Korea in the next 5 years - I can't wait.

I would go just about anywhere once just because you never really know until you've seen it. I've had a few places surprise me.

However I would never go to the Rocky Mountains...in the WINTER! I have no desire to ski but those mountains are unbelievably beautiful and there's tons to do up there.

For me, I think it would be Las Vegas...I just have absolutely no interest in it.

Actually, I always thought that too. I figured if I never went to Vegas so much the better. But one of DH's best friends got married there and we had so much fun. DH played a little poker but I only gambled $1. Most of what we did was go to shows. So now..I wouldn't be opposed to going back. (I think it helped that our hotel (TheHotel at Mandalay Bay), although attached to a casino, was not directly in one.

Along with China, which many people mentioned, would any of these be considering "popular vacation destinations"??

yeah i typed too fast  - none of those are "popular vacation destinations". i'd edit but then the quote's out there. my point was that the only places i didnt want to go were places no one wants to go. but i guess i just made that part of the point in my own head :rotfl2:

I used to not want to go to China but now I do.

oh and Mom2be - don't be knocking club med - when we don't go to Disney we go to club med because there's sooooooo much to do - scuba anyone :earboy2:

Ummm, China is considered to be one of the top tourist destinations in the world. According to Don George, global travel editor for Lonely Planet guidebooks, "It's the new 'it' destination".

Oh, ok, I guess I'm not up on my "it" destinations these days. :)

I agree with the whole laying on the beach thing, not my cup of tea - so if I never go to the caribbean it wouldn't be a problem. I like the sun, but laying in it for hours seems so boring to me.

My friend went to Egypt recently and when she told me she was going I basically said why? but I think I have reconsidered and it might be a fun trip.

I want to go everywhere else though! I would love to travel all the time.

Well, coming from a SO not "it" girl, I'm not up on hot destinations either. :teeth:

I've just talked to so many people recently who expressed an interest in going to China. The small university that I work at is sponsoring a trip to China during this year's spring break. On top of that, my brother called me out of the blue last night to tell me he will be taking a two week trip to China starting next week. He's never been out of North America and this is what he chose as his first foreign destination. Interesting!

A lot of Caribbean Islands have a lot more than beaches. Some have historic old towns, nightlife, festivals, great resorts, jungles, mountains and so on. It really just depends on your tastes.

I agree that lying on the beach endlessly would be boring. I like to go for a day and then I'm ready to move on and do something else!

I don't want to go to Singapore or Thailand. Basically any place where American tourists are thrown into jail for long periods of time based on very with little evidence. I mean imagine somebody sneaks cocaine or something into your suitcase and that's it, you're in an Asian prison for life! Yikes!

I think Japan and maybe China are the only Asian countries I would like to go to.

I've been to Singapore on business a couple times and it's one of the most wonderful countries I've been to. It's a huge overexaggeration to say that they target American tourists.

Never had any desire to go to South America.

Don't know why. :confused3 Hmmmm, maybe I had a bad experience there in a past life. :worried: :teeth:

Here's another vote for France. I also have no desire to go to any ski destination or Los Angeles (or anywhere surrounding LA).

Europe. Any part of it. No desire. We have been to many places, but not there. :confused3 Sorry.

And themepark....go easy on us here by LA, it is not that bad, really, there are so many cool and interesting things to see and visit, honest! :flower: The original DL is close by.
