1. Do you like it?
2. Does it zoom?
3. What type of memory card does it use?

Just trying to get as many opinions as I can before making a final decision!
I'm making a list...lol

I have a Kodak DX3700, 3.1 megapixel. It has 3x automatic focus, it uses a compact flash card. I like it very easy to use, its also very light. If I could change anything I would like a manual focus option.

I have a Canon Powershot S40 which I love,,,,,,,,it does zoom, and it ises a compact flash memory card.......I have a 128mb, and a 64mb....love the camera too;)

Fuji FinePix 2650 (2Mpixel)
1.8x Optical Zoom
xD memory cards (only used by Fuji and Olympus currently)

An nice camera for the price. I like the size and ease of use. My only gripe is that xD memories are too new and they haven't come down in price yet.

Kodak easyshare DX4330
3.1 MP
3x optical zoom
3x digital zoom(I think)
Compact Flash Memory Card
Nice..Loading dock seems to be a waste of money..We are having issues right now loading onto computer, might be computer issue..

I have a Canon Powershot S20 (no longer made though)
It has both optical and digital zoom (2x & 3x)
It uses Compact Flash

I love it but wish I had more settings to mess with and a longer optical zoom. I will probably upgrade to a better camera within a year :)

Kodak Easyshare DX4900, 4.0 MP.

Zoom is 2x Optical, 3x Digital, for 6x overall.

Uses Compact Flash.

I am very happy with it, though it would be nice if it had a more powerful optical zoom. Its takes great pictures, and I do have the docking station, though so far I've only used it to charge the battery.

I have a Kodak DC265, but it is no longer made. I just love it. In fact, it takes such good pictures that my mother just bought a nearly new one through Ebay. It uses a flash memory card and we use a card reader to transfer to the computer.

Good luck in your search. There are some good camera sites out there. I may have a couple bookmarked if you want to PM me.

Since you asked....

Nikon D-100 6 megapixel SLR with interchangeable lenses with other Nikon SLRs.

It uses Compact Flash Cards.

It is optical zoom dependent on the zoom telephoto I use.

The major downside is EXPENSE, but if you take a bad picture, you only have yourself to blame. ;)

I have the Kodak DX3700 too and I'm wth you Patrick. I'd change for a manual focus too. Its a great camera though.

Lion King....LOL! I am also a firm believer in you get what you pay for! Especially in purses;) ;)

You all are talking about a more powerful zoom.....Let me get this right there is digital zoom and Optical zoom....give me a quick "DIGITAL CAMERA FOR DUMMIES" explanation of the difference between optical and digital.

The main thing that I will use this camera for right now is John-Cole's basketball games...so I do need a good zoom to be able to get him from the bleachers at the school.

We are also planning a trip out west in a few months to the Grand Canyon and possibly Vegas and Anaheim for a day....so it will be used for all of the vacation pics.

The main reason I asked about memory cards is I have a 128mb compact flash memory card for the old camera I have now. However it is a Butterfly brand which is an off brand and I've heard that you really don't want to use those....so I will definatly need something that will hold maybe at least 150 pics for the 2 week vacation....PLUS we are looking into the new printer which will print nice digital photos.

Now...your turn...LOL!!! Tell me what I need....Oh and I'm planning to spend between $300-$400.

I have a Fuji Finepix 2600 Zoom. It's 2.1 megapixel and uses compact flash memory cards. I have really enjoyed it--I think it takes very good pictures. I do need to practice a little more with the different flash settings though. :)

I forgot to mention it needs to be easy to understand...lol!

Is there a websight that maybe tells you which is the best by price range??

I may not get this exactly right, but I'll try...

Optical zoom actually zooms in on the image, just like a 35mm zoom does.

Digital zoom doesn't really zoom in on the image, but just makes the pixals bigger.

The end result is that optical zoom provides a clearer picture than digital zoom.

The number of pics you can fit on a single compact flash card depends on how much space each picture takes up, and the amount of memory on the card.

With my Kodak 4.0 MP, I can get approximately 90-100 pictures on a 128mb card. It does have settings for lower MPs, so you don't have to use the 4.0 MP setting all of the time, if you don't want to.

Generally speaking, the greater the MP of the camera, the larger the file size of the pictures. That's a trade-off for the higher resolution you get with higher MP.

I've read that the Kodaks are rated as one of the easier makes to use, and I would agree. Taking basic pictures if just as easy as a 35mm, and making other more detailed adjustments using the menus is not that difficult either.

Last I checked, the Kodak DX4900 was running between $360 and $400, but that does not include the docking station, and only includes a 16mb Compact Flash card.

I'm not sure about the other Kodak models that others have mentioned, but they are less expensive, which would allow you to get the docking station or card reader, as well as a larger Compact Flash card and still stay around your budget.

I don't have the loading dock (I believe it's a waste, too).

3.2 MP
zoom 2X digital zoom
close-up mode
magnify 2X and 4X in review
It has 16 mb of internal memory, but I've got two 64 mb memory cards (bought separate).

There's only 2 things I don't like about it. It has a double flash (most people think the 1st flash is the actual pic, but it's the 2nd flash!), and it takes forever to upload to emails (well, on dial up it is, and I have the resolution set at the lowest, for emailing!). But other than that, I love it.:)

I just got the HP320 for xmas.

2.10MP, 4x digital zoom, 8mb internal memory(I have another card for it), auto focus, auto flash and red eye reduction.

I still don't know everything I need to to get the most out of the camera but so far it is easy to use, takes great pictures and I am able to upload them onto the computer easily.

Well, looks like we are the only Sony Mavica enthusiasts here, but I love it because it is so easy and uses regular floppy disk that is easy to pop into the laptop and down load each evening. The drawback is that it is not the smallest camera in the world!

Canon Powershot A40.
2x optical, 3xdigital
Compactflash card-comes with only an 8, but got a 128 too.
So far I like it, just got for Christmas and have not figured it out entirely:p ! Pics I upload seem great. Will get my card developed this week:D .
