So mine was going off today, and I thought it was my smoke detector. Turns out it was my carbon monoxide detector! DH cousin is a fireman, so they came and checked the house to be on the safe side.

My neighbor came over, and I asked her if she had one, she no. Do we know how many life's can be saved by purchasing one?

Do you have one and if not, would you consider buying one? We are talking about our family and loved one's. I think that is what I might also give out as Xmas present's to those who I know do not have them. :goodvibes

We absolutely have one!!!

we have 2..one in the cellar ..one upstairs...better to be safe than sorry!

I just bought a new one last month. It is something I just would not be without.

Yes- we bought one when we moved into our house. Good thing too, because the previous owners had a very shoddy job done with the heat and hot water heater venting (the vents were put in the wall and NOT CONNECTED to the chimney). After a few months, we started getting severe CO influx and had it not been for the detector, we wouldn't have known.

We have them too. There is one on each floor. Just seemed a sensible thing, hopefully it'll never be used, just like the smoke alarms.

Of course we do. I have been searching online but I have been able to find the story I am looking for. When I was in highschool about 12 years ago my dad was the lead fire investigator on a case where a family of 4 died. They went to the ER days before and were sent home with flu like symptoms. They had a birds nest in their chimney. I remember the story was huge. I'll keep looking for the real story

We have 2!
DH is a firefighter :firefight and he's been on CO calls before, where if the family didn't have the detectors, there is no way they would have survived through the night.
Everyone should have one at least!

3, one on every floor. BIL, SIL and 2 nephews almost died one night when we lost power(as we always do) and his generator was exhausting into his basement. Never thought I'd say this but lucky for them he is a smoker and got up to smoke outside. When he stood up he collapsed. He managed to wake the others enough for them to get out of the house and call 911.

Yes. We bought one when we bought the house. It is well worth having.

I hate to admit it, but mine is gaping open, waiting for a new battery :(

Yes we have one. Can't imagine why anyone wouldn't have one.

Actually it's code now where I live (upstate NY) for new construction. One on each floor, not to mention the 11 smoke detectors.

I had a friend and her family die from carbon monoxide poisoning when I was in junior high. :( The event was unbelievably scary for me and my dad promptly went out and got detectors for each floor in our home. :(

Please get one for your family! My friend and her family could be living today if they had placed one in their home!

I have 3 that my MIL gave me. I was shocked she gave them as Christmas gifts, but honored that she cared about us.

Yes we have one. And when we went through our home study for adoption, it was something on the list of things we HAD to have in our home and we had to show it to the social workers when they visited! :thumbsup2

Two, both with battery back up and digital readouts. One in the basement rec room and one on the second floor outside the bedrooms. We also have a natural gas detector.
