Inspired by mamajoan....what kind of teenager were you?

I know...but it sounds like a wild story if you leave parts out...;)

I was a "Perfect" teenager. Didn't smoke, didn't drink. I left that to my brother who is 5 years younger. He was the wild child.

I was a good girl is HS. :) Good grades, never got in trouble, had lots of friends, dated the same guy for 3 years, and made my parents proud! ;) Then when I got to college I went downhill FAST! LOL :smooth: I won't go into the details, but let's just say I had a good time. ;)

I was told earlier today that I shouldn't have revealed my bad girl past, LOL. Thought it made for a bad image. :teeth:

I personally didn't know anyone who wasn't a bit wild. I graduated high school in 1981 and everyone smoked weed and got drunk back then, it was part of the culture of where/when I grew up. I'm not particularly proud of my high school achievements, LOL, but I was a good kid for the most part. I never picked on kids less fortunate, in fact, I would stick up for any kid who was picked on. I was respectful of my parents and my teachers, and I worked a part time job from when I was 14 years old until I graduated. I got good enough grades to make it into one of the best colleges for an art student, and while I was not class valedictorian, I certainly did o.k.. So if revealing my past of blowing a few too many bong hits has offended anyone, my apologies. Its just part of who I am, take it or leave it. :)

Hey Snoopy...take it from the other end...I feel like I missed out on life. Not that I want to have been "BAD" but nothing you did seems out of sort with the times. If anything I wish I had experienced life a little more...So hey don't apologize for your past...it makes you the cool, wonderful person you are today. :) :) :)

I cant say...my mother & sister read these boards!!!!

All in all I was a pretty good teen. I did have my fair share of "breaking rules" whether it was drinking or whatever, but I made sure to never get caught. I would say I wasnt as bad as a lot of kids I went to school with, but Im sure there were some kids who werent as bad as me(not that I was bad bad). I was probably about the medium.

There's no way I am going to answer this thread... let's just say I had a lot of fun....

<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font color=navy>My parents were very strict when I was growing up, and I realized very early that if I didn't break their rules, life would be a lot easier. So I didn't break their rules, never drank, and never took any drug (still haven't and wouldn't), and I had a lot of fun anyways. My curfew when I was a senior was midnight - my dad had to see me by midnight. So, if he took me someplace, I had to be at the car by midnight, and if I drove, I had to be home by midnight ... so, I would have him take me so I could be at parties longer, etc. I was also really involved in school and volunteered at the local hospital, so I was always busy. It was a fun time. :)

MJ....We may be related, or atleast our parents were. I was in at midnight the night before my wedding at the age of 24. First one who makes a comment gets it  Was in at midnight for my proms...and never ever went away, because it was not appropriate.

what kind of teenager were you?

Insecure.

But, especially after having attending my 30th H.S. Reunion this past summer, I can definitely say I've come a long way, Baby!.

Played by the rules, had little choice, my father was a teacher at the high school! The one time I skipped school was a day I knew he would be out. He called the school to ask them to send his check home with me. Office had to tell him I wasn't there:eek: He never did tell my mother til several years later:D And like Glo I didn't defy my parents even as an adult and still living home. Late '70's I was already engaged DH and I wanted to go away for the weekend. They didn't approve so we didn't go:( I think being a middle child had something to do with my "playing by the rules" Never did drugs, had a fear of not being in control:D

Glo,
I've got ya beat:p I'm 37 (& 1/2) and I have never smoked a cigarette, never been drunk, never cruised, curfew was 11pm (which I never broke). At 20, I did stay out all night once. But I was in my sister's care(not out with her though) not my parents or I'm sure it would have never happened.
The funniest thing is I don't feel like I missed out on anything...I have always had a good time and enjoyed life (& remember everything I did too!) LOL
My parents had it easy. I wish I'd have it that easy too. But I'll have to pay for DH's raising. ;)

Well, I'm still technically a teenager, but I'm no longer in high school.. I was/am pretty much the stereotypical "good teen." Straight As, National Honor Society, etc. I don't drink or smoke or do any drugs and I also wouldn't really hang around with anyone that would.. it just offends me too much. I never had a curfew because my friends and I would never do anything that would cause us to be out late. I had a great time in high school though, we'd do stuff like go to movies, go out to eat, just hang around the house, etc. I feel like I don't need chemicals to have fun, I can do it on my own. :p I'm living in substance and alcohol free housing here and I love it. I suppose I am "rebellious" in some ways, ie, I don't eat any meat and I have pretty strong views on certain issues.. but not at all rebellious in the typical teenager ways. I'm actually just a huge dork :p

Thanks for your second post snoopy!

After I posted earlier, I logged back on just now, thinking: did I really just tell everyone on this board that I smoked a lot of pot as a teenager? Yep, I sure did!! :o Yikes .. and I just started posting here a few weeks ago! Hope no one holds that against me! I feel better that I'm not the only one who was a good kid (I was the class valedictorian too) but a bit of a wild child as well. Can't say that I ever cruised, though!

:D

Great thread, mamajoan! We're really getting to know one another, aren't we?

To answer the question, I guess I was a pretty normal teenager. I had wonderful parents and a good home life. If you're familiar with the "Happy Days" T.V. series, I guess my life back then would be similar to the "Joanie" character in the show -- she was fun-loving but innocent. I had good times spent with my family as well as with my friends. Grades were always important to me so I studied a lot. However, I always managed to have fun, too. I never smoked pot but did try "regular" smoking and didn't like it at all.

Drinking was never a big deal to me since I grew up in a family that allowed us, as children, to have a small taste of wine (with Sunday dinner) if we wanted it. Because alcohol was never presented to us as "forbidden fruit," none of the cousins my age and younger ever became big drinkers. Most of my friends couldn't wait to turn 21 so that they could go drinking. It was not such a big deal to us!

I bought my first car, a Chevy Malibu, when I was 18. Many times my friends and I would drive around "aimlessly" just being silly and driving too much over the speed limit. With some of the stupid things we did back then, we are all lucky to be alive today!!!

I was never as "wild" as "Mr. Dan" though! :p In fact, if I had known Dan during his tempestuous years, I probably would have been "scared" of him!

But, then again, maybe not...................:p :p :p

Marie
