Eat your greens - it'll make your hair curl. Well, I suppose it saves on perming lotion.

Eating carrots helps you see in the dark. Isn't that what torches are for?

If you're not a good boy/girl, Father Christmas won't come. Patently a lie! Do what you like, kids - he comes anyway!

Any more?

LOL Deb

I was told that if I didn't eat my crusts my hair would go curly.

And if I didn't eat my green beans then it was simply no pudding for me.

Ha Ha!

I was told if I pulled THAT face and the wind changed I would 'STAY LIKE THAT';)

That's what I was told too, I can remember my mother saying it and the school dinner ladies.

My other half was told by his mother that Brussel Sprouts were only baby cabbages.

How about sitting on a cold, stone step would give you piles.

. . . and sitting with your feet and legs too close to a fire will give you chillblains (sp?!)      (one of my batty old aunt's sayings, bless;) ).

And don't forget "watching too much TV will give you square eyes". Strange thing is that I'm telling my kids that too many cartoons will turn their brains to mush.

For the woman, apparently crusts put hairs on your chest. You have been warned !

LOL All familiar!

How about this (not so nice) one :

" If you pick your nose, you'll get worms!!!"

Sooooooo, not true!! - You'll get worms from a germ, not from simply picking your nose, although yes, there is the possibility of germ transfer there.

Sorry about that one!!!

How about "Clean your plate because of the starving children in India?" I never could figure out how eating all of my food was going to help the starving children in India.

LOL I remember being told to clean my plate because there were starving children too!! I used to wish we could just box it up and send it off :)

To this day I still think that I should clean my plate, although I never pulled that trick on my own kids I always just said 'eat what you can'.

Ditto to all that's been said and I'm afraid that I have at times found myself telling DD that she'll turn into a chocolate biscuit (packet of crisps / bottle of ketchup etc.) if she eats too many!

Incidently I never ate my crusts yet have very curly hair so I'm not sure how that happened ;) - oh and I'm sure it was actually proven that there is a smidgen of truth in the whole eating carrots, seeing in the dark theory, don't carrots contain a chemical that can improve your vision?
