Inspired by First Tornado Watch thread: When Do you Panic about the Weather?

I only freak if the tornado sirens go off,otherwise no big deal about watches.Now if a flood watch is issues I do freak after the flood 4th of July weekend of '02

Our tornado sirens go off even for just thunderstorms anymore. I don't panic until the tornado warning is for my county and it's heading my way.

But, whenever there is a bad storm, I make sure the kids have their shoes on, that there is nothing in the way to the basement and into Bri's closet. Just in case.

The sirens here also remind the volunteer fightfighters it's meeting night so sometimes I forget then it dawns on me,"Meeting night,no big deal"

Tornadoes go rolling across Texas all spring, it seems.

So, I don't worry until I know it is coming our way.

If I have to drive in a blizzard I worry.

The only time I've paniced is when I saw the cover to a Weber grill fly past my window.

My 2nd story window.

I broke a land speed record getting down to the basement!

If I hear the siren, I turn on the t.v. and check the weather. If it looks like it might be near me I keep the t.v. on and keep an eye out the window. I do get the flashlights out, even a normal storm can knock my power out at anytime.

I don't know that I ever really panic about the weather, but once I did head for the basement during a tornado warning. The thunderstorms that spawned the warning were BAD. My area of Central MA was hit by an F5 tornado 51 years ago, so it is possible for a catistrophic tornado to hit anywhere

Every time snow is forecast.

I usually only panic when I'm driving in it. Snow storms are the worst!

I can handle the snow (unless, of course, it is a full blown blizzard), it's driving on the ice that makes me panic.

When I was a kid in Kankakee (a century ago), we used to sit on our front porch and watch the tornadoes go over. I get very impatient, but I can't say I really panic.
