I am going to be teaching summer school. Hope to bring the little one to the Pre-K class, but if I can't, I'll put him part-time in a nearby home daycare. But my older DS would KILL me, if I made him come. On the other hand, I don't want him home alone. He could go with grandparents, but he always gets bored, and I think he'd enjoy something more active than most "day camps" do, so I'd like a week or two of camp for him. We can't afford much after our Disney trip, though, so no 4,000 dollar camps for him!

Anybody got a good tip?

You may not be religious, but I know in my area there are quite a few overnight "church" type camps. They usually last a week at a time, run around $300-400 and have all kinds of fun activities - camping out, hiking, horseback riding, sports, etc. What about checking with the local YMCA, don't they sometimes have summer programs? Or a Boy Scouts type organization?

Good luck! :)

I checked with the Y last year, just day camps, more sports and arts/crafts, and he wants to do hiking/camping/fishing/archery type stuff.

We're Methodist, basically we'd send him to any religious or secular camp, no matter the religion, as long as they would accept him, and allow him questions. We believe in teaching our child about different beliefs so he can compare with our religion, and decide what he thinks about them.

Check camppage.com and search by the location that works for you. You can access a whole bunch of different camp websites that way.
