On another thread about unpacking the question came up on why women pack so many shoes. It got me thinking about how many shoes we do bring. Last time we went to WDW (off-site) there were 6 of us myself, dd's 25,23 ds's10,6 and dgd 8. At MINIMUM we had 2 pair of sneakers and water shoes for each of us. Dd's also had dress shoes for PI. There was at least 18 pairs of shoes!! They were put by the door into a pile. This time there will be 1 less person staying in connecting rooms at Pop Century. Any ideas on how to keep shoes organized?

I'm the worst (at least among the men, perhaps). I'll wear a pair down, of course, and then I'll pack comfortable walking shoes, sneakers to jog in, dock shoes to go to dinner in, sandals for the warmer days, and water shoes.

I'm apologizing to bicker right up front!!!! Sorry for this post :thumbsup2 Okay, that's done.
I used to take...sneakers, water/sport sandals, regular sandals. Then, I started wearing the dreaded Crocs. So, took those, with the other aforementioned shoes. Well, in June, I brought sneakers, sport sandals, and Crocs. In August I wore my Crocs there, and also had sneakers in my bag...in Dec..only Crocs.
Again bicker...sorry!

i bring 2-3 pairs of sandles each for myself and both kids. We drive from NY, so probably this next trip (in 2 weeks) we'll wear sneakers in the car too. dh brings 1 pair of sandles, whatever he drives in and maybe a pair of boat shoes. when we went in the summer, it was only sandles (but still, 2-3 pairs each). I like us all to switch off each day. and 1 pair of the sandles is the kind that can get wet (if not all the sandles).

My wife really hates it, because each pair of my shoes takes up as much room as two pairs of her shoes, and yet I insist I can take as many pairs as she takes!

I usually take 2 pairs of sandals and a pair of sneakers, dh takes a pair of deck shoes (won't wear sandals, uses these for the pool) and sneakers and I usually take sneakers and sandals for the kids. I usually put them under the suitcase stand in the closet so they are out of the way, but still reachable.

Since I would love to be barefoot all the time I don't take too many shoes! :teeth: I usually take 2 pairs of flip flops (1 "fancy" pair and 1 regular pair for the parks) and a pair of sneakers. :thumbsup2

Sneakers, of course.

Decent shoes to go out to nice dinners.

Sandals (sometimes)

Steve Madden's - I love my Steve Maddens. They look like a cross between a sneaker and a bowling shoe.

This is a sore spot with DH. I don't take that many - I take 2 pair of sneakers, 5 or 6 pairs of sandals, and one semi dressy shoe. DH takes 2 pairs of sneakers, a pair of flip flops (for pool) and loafers. Ds takes 2 pairs of sneakers and 2 pair of flip flops. So far okay. Now here comes the part that flips DH - dds (7 and 8) have way too many shoes. They usually take 3 or 4 pairs of sneaks, 2 or 3 pair of sandals, 1 dressy pair of shoes, and about 10 pairs of flip flops. They like their shoes to match their outfits. I bring dollar store shoe bags so they don't take up that much room but DH is always shaking his head and muttering about too many shoes. To be fair we are there for over two weeks.

We each brought the Tevas we wore.

We each brought water shoes for Blizzard Beach. Mine gave me blisters, so that was a mistake.

Dh is a runner and brought running shoes.

We all did just fine with our Tevas for park touring. If it wasn't for our Blizzard Beach day, the Tevas we were wearing and 1 pair of dh's running shoes would have been great for our whole stay.

Now that I discovered Crocs, I might pack those along and alternate with the Tevas if we have the space in our suitcase.

LOL, this may be slightly different because we did WDW and a 7 night (i.e. formal) cruise last month so we needed a good variety of shoes. ;)

Here's what the shoe pile for our family of 4 looked like in our stateroom - as DH joked it looked like something out of a bad thrift shop. :rotfl:

I love the pile of shoes! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: That's what our pile looked like. Any ideas on how to keep it neater??

Hmm, last trip I brought:
Puma Tennies for walking/casual wear
Tennies for working out (which I did!)
Flip flops for pool
Dressy shoes for nice dinners

Wow, that's not too bad! I think I wanted to bring black boots too (went in December), but I decided not to. Never would have worn them if I did.

Since I discovered Teva Pretty Rugged, that's almost all I bring. I do bring one other sandal to change into and flip flops for the pool. If it's winter months, I'll wear my summer Land's End Mocs with socks but will wear my sandals once I'm in Florida.

That's it.

My first trip down I took way too many pairs of shoes. I took 4 pairs of flip flips (im obsessed with flip flops), nice sandals, two pairs of sneakers, water shoes, 2 pairs of dressy shoes and birkenstocks. That was too many and I learned my lesson over time. The last time I went I wore sneakers down, packed one pair of flip flops for the pool and a pair of sport sandals. That was it, and it worked out fine.
