Hi, I thought I'd join your thread. :)

I bowled tonight and scored 126. I'm either throwing strikes or gutter balls, not too much in between.

My 4 year old bowled 115 the other day, I don't think I have ever done that good. :lmao: You weren't playing with the bumpers up were you?

The time that I bowled the best was that time that I drank that whole pitcher of beer real fast b/c I was scared they were going to throw it out at midnight. I don't remember the score but the old man in the lane beside us said that i was kicking butt. ;)

I wonder where the saying Cool Beans ever got started?

Better cold beans than warm beans? hmmmmm

The first time I heard he saying "cool beans" was about 20 years ago! Am I really that old?

The first time I heard "Cool Beans" was just a few years ago. It was from a character on reality tv. No one in my area says cool beans. I say it every so often now.

:wave2: "Cool Beans" :wave2: is a phrase that originated in American pop culture during the 1980s. It is used when referring to something with a positive connotation. For Example "That party was cool beans." Much like other slang words "Cool Beans" faded out with the times, but traces of it can be seen as today people are often referred to as "cool".

When analyzed the phrase is ironic because cool and cold are usual given negative connotations. For example "frigid", "icy", and "frosty." However during the 1980s American pop culture changed the meaning behind hot and cold. Words like "chill" and "cool" became hip ways of giving a positive compliment. On the other hand "hot" and "smoking" took on the impersonal feeling of objectification . Much of the Women Rights success occurred in the 1970s and in response sexism was obvious in the 1980s. Words like "hot" and "*****in" developed as demeaning attacks on women.

"Cool Beans" took on a different approach giving a playful tone to the contrast in words. The association of the noun "beans" with the adjective "cool" developed a duality making a phrase that was humorous and light-hearted. Unlike other slang phrases "Cool Beans" was not the result of television popularity, but rather just a twist on words developed by teenagers.

we always used to say "cool beans" in middle school. i guess it made a comeback in the early 90s.

Yes I have a date tomorrow night. We are meeting up at "Independence Hall", gonna do dinner and then we will go from there.

My outfit is this beige/brown print shirt. Light, flowy and kinda form fitting. Short sleeves with a slit in the sleeve. Its got this embroidery type thing going under each twin, makes them look real good. I really like the shirt a lot and how it looks on me. I got a brown skirt to go with it. But now that I have it home, I dont like it as much. Damn dressing room mirrors. At home it makes me look even shorter and more chubbier than I am. I tried it on with my "go to" jeans, and it looks great.

Just wear what you feel most comfortable in. Being uncomortable wtih yourself on a date is the worst.

The shirt is comfortable. And it looks good on. Im taking the skirt back though and going with the jeans. And with the jeans, I can wear flip flops.
