Inspired by always quiet...Another Task Bar how to question....

Somehow my DD has managed to put desktop programs in her task bar (even when not in use). (When the computer boots up...there they are) How on earth do I remove them from always being in the task bar except when they are in use??? (I've tried settings).

I would appreciate any suggestions!

Here is a suggestion that I hope will help.

If the desktop is located on the taskbar itself as you are saying (I have it on there now) right click on the mouse on the desktop word so you get the menu that shows toolbars, properties etc., click on toolbars and unclick desktop. That should remove the desktop menu from your taskbar.

Are you talking about the quick launch bar? Where you have little icons that represent the programs and all you have to do is click on them once and it runs the program?

For that, right click the task bar, go to toolbars, then uncheck the quick launch.

Not on the left but beginning right after the start button. It looks like it does when the programs are in use but they are not. It included the little icons and the name of the program.
