INSIGHT NEEDED: Transferring Placeholders from one third party to another

Background: Booked our first Disney cruise, through icruise.com (bad decision), went on trip August 2024. On the Cruise, booked a placeholder and thought it would be simple to book.

I called the Disney Cruise Line, and they said that my placeholder is with icruise? I did not understand that the placeholder would go to the original booking method, back to icruise for me. I don't want to use icruise again, but can't seem how to figure out how to use the placeholder and would like it transferred to Costco.

Appreciate any guidance. Emailed, called, got a back and forth run around between DCL agent and iCruise.

I think you can only change who the placeholder is assigned to within 30 days of purchase?

That part was not made clear when we booked the placeholder. I did not even know the placeholder was recorded/documented with the original booking method. I did not have a good experience with iCruise and do not want to use them again.

PP is correct. Unfortunately, a placeholder can only be transferred to a TA (both icruise and Costco are considered TAs) within 30 days of when the placeholder was purchased. That said, you can ask icruise to transfer the placeholder back to you. Then you can book with it. You will not be able to transfer it to Costco.

Yes, I finally got someone to give me that answer with the back and forth. Sounds like I'm stuck with iCruise but I know better for next time.

Last time I bought a placeholder through the app, I noticed that the checkbox to assign the placeholder to your last travel agent is automatically checked. Make sure to uncheck it next time if you don't want to use iCruise again.

If you buy at guest services, then they're supposed to ask you.

Piggy-backing a but as I didn't know you could go to Guest Services to buy it. Can you use a gift card or different card from the one on file if you do it through Guest Services?

I don't know. I've never tried to do those things.

If you go get a placeholder thru guest service it can be any form of payment.
Last time i used gift cards and cash no problem at all.

I book all my cruises thru Costco travel. When you book a placeholder on the app, it asks if you want it assigned to your current travel agent. That is the default. You have to specify if you don’t. It is very easy to do though.
