You can select any room you wish when making a reservation. Unless you're booking a GTY or *GT status room.

I believe (but I could be wrong) all rooms that only sleep 3 have the sofa bed as the bed for the 3rd person. If you want to be sure you have a bunk (over the sofa) you must get a room that sleeps at least 4.

We're a family of 3, have done 5 cruises so far. We've always had a cabin that just sleeps 3. Has the sofa that turns into a bed, have never had a bunk bed.

I'm not sure what our booking status is, it's our first cruise. And TBH we are selecting the cheapest possible rooms and I am not willing to pay extra for her to have a bunk bed haha. thank you!

if you are allowed to select your room number go on the website and look at rooms that hold 4 then request that room number. I travel alone with my son (so only 2 of us) but he loved the bunk on our first cruise so I made sure he'll have one on our next one - but I always choose my room, too picky for other reasons to leave it to the Disney gods.

We are a family of 3 and have gotten a room that sleeps four (with a bunk) for one of our cruises.

I think the only way to guarantee you get room with a bunk is to select your own room 🙁

You'll want to select a room that sleeps 4. I believe category 11C may only sleep 3, so you may need to "upgrade" from that, but there definitely are inside staterooms with a bunk.

Enjoy your vacation!

Im a first time cruiser too :) However before I booked I researched the staterooms on the ship I knew I would be booking.

When I booked I gave the travel agent specific room numbers and said I wold like any one of these rooms, if possible.

Have you used a travel agent or did you book direct with Disney?

You should check out the deck plans for the ship and find the room numbers that have the room configuration you want. I would pick up to 4 or 5 rooms

If you booked through a travel agent , contact them and give them the room numbers and ask would it be possible to switch to one of these rooms.

If you booked direct with Disney, call them and ask them the same thing.

Depending on availability , you may or may be able to switch rooms. Your travel agent, if they are good, should keep trying to get you moved to a new room, as rooms become available all the time, tight up to paid in full date, as people cancel or switch rooms.

We will be using a travel agent (haven't booked quite yet)! Where can I find the exact room information? I found this page which shows general info

With more space than you’d find in same-class rooms on most other cruise ships, our “Standard” is superior.

Standard Inside Staterooms classifications and locations are as follows:
  • Category 11A: Decks 6 and 7
  • Category 11B: Decks 5 and 6
  • Category 11C: Deck 2

Rooms on Deck 2 offer Guests convenient proximity to shipboard restaurants and nightclubs while Decks 5, 6 and 7 are upper decks. Please note that Category 11C sleeps 3 only.
Specifications
  • Sleeps: 3 or 4
  • Size: 184 sq. ft.
  • Room Configuration: queen bed, single sleeper sofa and upper-berth pull-down bed (if sleeping 4)
  • View: no exterior view

I did just notice the ship deck plans link but when I hover over the rooms there are ones that say "sleeps 3 OR 4" and then some that say "sleeps 3 TO 4". hmm.

ok, so you need Category 11B: Decks 5 and 6

@Lisa F and @MichelleCanada which room numbers did you have that had bunk beds?

I think we were actually looking at deck 6 just because it's what came up when i selected my price range!

crap I left that out, the Magic.

Then the thread I linked won't help you, but you did say you are booking with a travel agent. Tell your TA that you would like a stateroom with an upper bunk, but that you don't want it if it increases the price. The TA will be able to check which rooms have the upper bunk and get prices for those as compared to staterooms without the upper bunk.

As far as I know, all the inside rooms on Deck 1 of the Magic sleep 4. I know for a fact that 1051/1053 both sleep 4, as do O/V across the hall 1050 and 1052. (Note on our recent Bermuda cruise, the O/V rooms were only $200 more than the inside rooms.)
Here's a video I made last year of 1053/1051.

We had stateroom 7000 Oceanview (with a large porthole) on the Wonder this past summer and it had a bunk bed in addition to the sofa bed.

We only travel with 2 people and on all 7 of our cruises on all 4 ships have had an inside or oceanview room that sleeps 4. Even on the cruises that Disney has chosen our staterooms, we have ended up with the bunk bed. My daughter says she would refuse to go on the cruise if it didn't have a bunk bed (somehow I doubt she really would since she loves cruises).
