Inside Out brings Joy to everyone!

The cat in the last scene was the funniest part of the movie.
Agree with this. By far the funniest part of the show, but I don't think the movie was trying to be a comedy, so that's OK.
I think the movie was pretty good. It did seem a little slow towards the beginning, but the concept and message were great.

And if the half dozen pre-teen girls sitting in the row in front of me are any indication, this will be a big hit. The not-so-subtle lead in to the sequel really got a big embarrassing chuckle out of them.

The family and I have ALWAYS enjoyed Pixar movies... until now. After seeing all the rave reviews, I was expecting something amazing. Took my DD10 last weekend, and was THOROUGHLY disappointed. So much so, wouldn't even bother watching it again... and that's really saying something for my house. Just seemed to be depressing, and Lord knows there is enough of that in real life without paying to be entertained with it. I don't ever mind emotional rollercoasters in movies, but this one was just a huge let down and didnt have the redeeming values to overcome the boring plot and unhappy tone of the film. Just my two cents...

I respect your opinion. This was definitely a different type of pixar film and definitely isn't really a movie made for kids but i thought the message behind it was very good. I also thought it realistically showed how emotions play roles in our lives. I also didn't think it was an unhappy tone throughout the entire film parts of it were of course but there were definitely parts that were happy and even caused laughter.

This was by far the worst Disney/Pixar movie I have seen. Could it have been any MORE depressing?? I hated it.

DS and I went to see Inside Out this weekend. I personally enjoyed the movie (though all of the amazing reviews kind of set you up to feel a little disappointed because it's hard to live up to the level of hype). DS said that he liked the movie, but I could tell that it didn't hold his interest the whole time because a lot of it was over his head. (He's 2 years and 8 months). He said his favorite part was the "green guy." I would recommend the film for adults and older children (maybe 4 or 5 plus).

Have to say, I was looking forward to the movie, but was not ready for the sadness and seemed to drag at points too. Took my DD13, as I was thinking she'd like it. Her comments upon exiting, I can't believe you made me sit to watch that, worse use of your money. I guess we won't have to watch it again or buy it on DVD. DS17, at the same time, went to see Jurassic World for the second time. He enjoyed it again. While even DS likes Pixar movies, this one is I guess for those that have young ones and not us.

I just got home from seeing the movie and left feeling disappointed honestly. Based on every single review that I've read, I feel like I must have missed something or didn't get it for some reason. I am generally easily pleased with movies and usually enjoy any movie I watch. Inside Out wasn't bad and I'm glad I watched it, but I was bored for the majority of the time and was looking at my watch frequently to see how much longer it had. In a near packed theater, there were no real laugh out loud or very tense moments from the audience. It did keep my 2.5 year old's attention, but she isn't talking about it much or asking to watch it again like she does with pretty much any other Disney movie that she's seen. I know the premise is over most children of that ages head, but she didn't seem infatuated with any character either. I know I'm in a small minority here, so i guess it just didn't appeal to my tastes, but I was pretty letdown by a movie that I was really looking forward to seeing.

I'm in the minority with you. DD liked it, but DH and I thought it was just okay. Not bad, but not great either. Good enough for a weekend afternoon, but a little slow and nothing we would watch over and over like many of the other Disney and Pixar movies. We typically love most Disney movies, and we were both looking at our watches. There were a couple of kids in the row behind us that kept asking if it was almost over yet- they were clearly not impressed. We went in the middle of the afternoon on Father's Day and the theatre we were in was not sold out- there were plenty of seats. We did not think the idea was quite as innovative and creative as the critics do either. My DH said it looks like the people that worked on Wreck it Ralph said "Hey- we could do this inside workings movie again, but we could make it inside a brain instead of inside a video game". DH said it was pretty much just Wreck it Ralph redone in someone's brain, and that he much preferred Wreck it Ralph. It also seemed like it had way more plot holes than most other Disney or Pixar movies. Immediately when they got stuck on the other side, DD said why don't they just take the train or stick the memories up the tube. That continued to irritate her after the movie. Our explanation was 1. Because the movie would have been really short if they had been that smart; and 2. Because they actually got thrown out of the control room because Joy was not meant to be there at that time because of what Riley was going through- that doesn't really explain sadness though since Riley definitely seemed sad- I guess maybe she was just numb at that point or too angry, scared and disgusted to be sad yet? There are other things, but I don't want to discuss too much and create too many spoilers. It bugged me through the whole movie that the emotions were so compartmentalized and simplified even though I know its a kids movie and that shouldn't bug me. It didn't appeal to me that much from the previews, but since the reviews were rave my expectations increased. After seeing it, I don't get all the hype on this one. I would rank it pretty low on my list of Pixar movies- above the Cars movies, but below most of the others. We all did absolutely love the Joy character though- Amy Poehler is so great.

Interesting I've heard most that have older children like it better. When I saw I thought that it defintely wasn't geared for 5 and younger. Pixar movies aren't typically geared for that age anyways. Pixar directors will tell you that their intentions are to make movies for adults.

We thought the movie was OK, but boring over all. I thought the emotion characters and Bing Bong were all casted perfectly and the movie had some humorous parts but overall ho-hum. My kids liked Bing Bong and Anger but that's all they have talked about since seeing it.
