WAIT OMG... I'm blushing.... you are the sweetest ever!!! This comment made my day. I'm so happy you loved my TRs!!! Haha some of my TRs go back to high school so I can't imagine how much cringe you had to sift through at the beginning  I hope you write your own when you come back, I'd love to hear about your trip!!!

Well I suppose I’ll be the contrary one and say I actually hate the motel-style doors as a solo fem traveler and it’s one of the (many) reasons POFQ was a one and done for me. The safety issue for me is really not so much about somebody trying to follow me in, it’s also the total lack of privacy with windows facing outside into guest walkways on top of that. Even at deluxes I avoid first floor rooms because of that and always request to be on a higher floor. When I stayed at POFQ I kept the privacy curtains drawn the entire time because I hated how exposed I felt to the outside, and it sucked having to choose between that and having any kind of natural light in the room. The only non-deluxe I will stay at solo after that is GDT because of the indoor hallways. But as a PP said your personal comfort level is what matters the most. You’re the one having to stay in the room.

I agree with you. When I stayed at POFQ, I hated having to be vigilant about closing the curtains. It’s surprising how many people glance into the room as they walk past. I don’t think they are up to no good, they just do it without thinking. Nevertheless, it is an invasion of privacy. The primary reason I dislike the outside corridors is the noise, especially from luggage carts. I was jolted awake at 2:00 a.m. by the rattling of a luggage cart on the pavement outside my door. A carpeted interior corridor muffles most of the luggage-related noise. And, I agree that GDT is probably the only non-deluxe where I will stay.

Next year I’ll be trying my 18th resort solo, so I’ve had both experiences.

The older I get the more I like resorts with balconies because I’m not in such a hurry anymore to be first in line for anything, and I also lose steam earlier in the evening than I used to. I like to sit on the balcony, savor every moment of being at Disney and people watch if I don’t get a room with a horrendous view.

But, I debate with myself each year because inside door hotels are significantly more than outside door hotels. Because I travel solo I don’t like having the drapes open in an outside door room — but it’s certainly not very inviting to be in the room with the drapes drawn. I’m sure people aren’t going out of their way to stare into the room, it’s just a comfort factor.

Ironically when I stayed at POFQ I got a corner room at the very outskirts of the property, so no one walked by.

My 2¢

I appreciate everyone's thoughts on this- it gave me alot to think about

Interesting thoughts on the privacy- even if I was staying with someone in the rooms with the outside windows- the blinds would always be closed. I like my privacy and would be very uncomfortable with someone looking in (Its human nature to look- so no judgement)

I just got back from my stay at POFQ and I admit I never felt unsafe. I was at the end of building 1 (refurbished room- yay!) - and walked to room at night with no issues or any reason to ever feel unsafe.

I do like the idea of a balcony- but the cost almost feels out of reach. Something to consider for next time!

Glad you had a good trip. When I have stayed at Pop I never really felt like there was much traffic going by my room, but I usually had the white sheer curtains closed if I am there during the day and never felt exposed.
