:welcome: I love Wilderness Lodge !! It is such an amazing resort. We are definitely staying there again for sure. The cheesecake was sooo good. I would love a slice with a cup of coffee, but I can't afford the calories myself. :rotfl:

:welcome: Thanks for reading !! That chocolate cake was super good. All of the desserts looked good there. We are definitely going back for more. :)

:wave2:

Food..if you a can't eat it, might as well talk about it! Working backwards here, that cheesecake looked DELISH! Makes me glad that I can't each cheesecake. I'd definitely eat that, and be miserable afterwards. When you were at WCC did they do any fun stuff for the kids? They had a hobby horse parade when we were there. They played music and the kids had to ride all around the restaurant. DD and her friend were mortified. It was too funny.

Was the cornbread at the WCC sweetish? We've only been there for breakfast, and the cornbread at the HDDR is sweet. I'm not a fan. Cornbread is not supposed to be sweet! It isn't as bad as some other places we've been, but I prefer my cornbread like they have it a Cracker Barrel.

Also I'd like to add that if DH is a fan of the kind of food in the WCC skillet, then he will love HDDR. Same type of stuff. Just sayin'. No pressure or anything. ;) I'm kididng of course.

The Sci-Fi diner is seriously dark. I think I had a grilled chicken samich back when we ate there. It was pretty good. I liked it better than 50s Prime Time. I'm with you, if we go back I'll be getting a burger.

I haven't been to Olivia's, but if that is the same pineapple coconut bread they have at the Spirit of Aloha, that stuff is DA BOMB! I don't like coconut and DD doesn't like coconut or pineapple and we both loved that bread. I need to do a search for the recipie and make some. That salad looked really good. Light and refreshing.

We'll be staying at WL next month and I'm so excited - your review really made me rethink my reservations because we're only doing breakfast at Whispering Canyon right now. Dinner looks yummy! Joining in for the rest of your reviews! What a lovely family!

You can't eat cheesecake ?? That is truly tragic. They sat us near the back of the restaurant where it was little more quiet and out of the way. And we were fine with that. Our waiter was really cool and funny. And he looked just like Geppetto, so that was fun.

I liked the cornbread. Maybe it was a little sweet, but I didn't think it was too sweet. We enjoyed it.

I think DH would really enjoy HDDR as well and we really want to do this with you. But I only want to go there if we are on the dining plan. DH would choke if he saw the bill for that and had to pay OOP. He really got into the dining plan. And it was very nice to have it prepaid and not have him pinching pennies and asking us to split stuff to keep costs down. I was fun to tell him he HAD to have his own entree and HAD to order dessert or we wouldn't be maximizing what we had already spent. It worked like a charm. The whole point of moving over DVC from the off-site resort at the end of our September trip is so we can get the dining plan again. So, I will have to let you know. Dsis is causing me much frustration. We have DDP already for Thanksgiving, though.

Sci-Fi is really dark. I enjoyed it. Definitely will go with the burger next time. And a milkshake.

We really liked Olivia's. That bread is Da Bomb for realz. I want some more. All of the salads we had were really good and fresh. and I would love to do the Spirit of Aloha. Did you like it ??

Now go post on my TR. I'm on page two ..... noooooooooo !! LOL. :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

Our server’s name was Bob, but his nickname was Geppetto. You can see why

He was very sassy and fun.

Lucky you! Bob *is* great fun!!! We had him as our server last trip and I'd love to get him again. :thumbsup2

:welcome: and yes, we loved him. He was great.

And I just have to say, I ADORE your avatar. I just love Edna. She is one my most favorite Disney characters.

:welcome: and thanks !! I just LOVE WL. Have you ever stayed there before ?? If not, you will enjoy it so much.

And we really loved Whispering Canyon. It made our top three list for the trip. I would love to try breakfast there. I bet it is awesome !!

Loving the dining report! :lovestruc:lovestruc

Such detailed reviews, and so many pictures! I really enjoy a report like this where I can take a mini-vacation to the world from my computer screen. Thank you!

Oh...I am very curious about the report that you mentioned Sci-Fi and some scary things that were illuminated by a camera flash. Any chance you'd post a link?

Kinda disturbing for sure. I'm being optimistic and hoping they got this all cleaned up.

WCC is one of our favorites. I keep wanting to try something else besides the skillet - but I love it so much, I never do! :rotfl:

I do have a question for you - is it an issue to split a meal when on the ddp? I don't know why I thought that was a no-no.

ewwww!! :scared1:

On the bright side, maybe I don't have to clean my house so thoroughly after all...just keep the lights low! :rotfl2:

hahahahaha !! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: You may just have something there. Instead of cleaning the house tomorrow, I am turning down the lights !!! :rotfl:

:welcome: Yes, the skillet was awesome. I can't imagine not getting it. The ladies that were sitting next to us had different things and they all enjoyed their meals. I don't know what they ordered though.

We never had trouble splitting meals as you will see as the report goes on. I know that they won't let you split the "all you can eat" stuff, like the buffets or the Skillet type stuff. But everywhere else ?? It was never a problem. In fact we were able to squeeze in another ADR because we split a couple of TS meals. And really, they give you plenty of food so you don't go away hungry if you split something. We always let our server know that we intended to split something so they wouldn't charge us a dining credit that we weren't really using.

I would love to do the Spirit of Aloha. Did you like it ??

It IS tragic. I loves me some cheesecake, but no, can't have anything made with cream cheese. Don't know if it is the lactose or the high concentration of fat. I can't have milk, ice cream or any thing made with heavy cream, but I have no problem with cheese. I have heard that people that are lactose intolerant can sometimes eat hard cheese b/c the concentration of lactose is far less. Something about hard cheese being much drier. Whatever. All I know is I can't have it, and that blows!

SOA is okay. The first half of the show is pretty ridiculous. The second half where they do the various island dances and the fire dancer comes out is very good. The food is good, and they have wonderful veggie medley. I never get enough veggies at WDW, so I really appreciated that. I decided that you really need category 1 seating for it. If we went back, we'd have to have category 1 seating. I was glad we saw it on free dining b/c if I had paid for it, I probably would have been a touch annoyed. I'm glad we did it, but HDDR is so much better IMO. I can't see going back unless we are going with a group.

Wait...did you start a PTR????!!! Um.. okay, I think I'm just going to have you ghostwrite my TR. Seriously..it has been in the works for almost a year, and it is clear I'm not going to get it done. LOL!

I'm not into the PTR right now. Haven't started one. But I'm having fun with the dining. I wish you would start a TR so I could share with you. But I understand. It is more work than you think it is.

Father’s Day, June 19, 2011

For lunch on this day we ate at Sunshine Seasons.

Well, most of us anyway. We will circle back to that.

DH and I split the Rotisserie Chicken, rice and bean salad

100_1891.jpg

The chicken was good. It was moist and not too dry. But not a ton of flavor. The rice and bean salad was just meh. It wasn't terrible. It was lunch, it filled a need.

DS got some Chicken Legs, mashed potatoes and bean salad

100_1893.jpg

He ate the chicken and mashed potatoes and DH and I ate the bean salad. Again, just OK.

DD refused to eat here since she is so picky and I didn’t want to waste a credit on something I KNEW she wouldn’t eat.

DS got a cinnamon bun for dessert

100_1892.jpg

Kinda dry and tasteless. Only half of this got consumed.

I got DH and I Strawberry Shortcake for dessert.

100_1894.jpg

This was the highlight of the meal. It was sweet and creamy and very fresh tasting. DH loves strawberries, so he liked it.

This meal was just OK. It filled us up and tasted pretty good, but didn’t blow us away. But not bad either. Just a regular lunch. Next time we will try something in World Showcase for lunch, I think.

I took DD over to the Electric Umbrella to get something she would eat.

100_1899.jpg

It was packed !! And it took FOREVER !! She orderd chicken nuggets and fries again and ate every bite, so I was glad I took the extra time to get her what she wanted. So I’m guessing it was good. It did look good.

I am joining in! What a great review so far!
We've had company so I've been off the boards for a few days..
Thanks for the awesome review - especially the reviews of the kids options! I can't wait to continue!

:welcome: Thanks for stopping in !! Kids options are limited for sure. Especially when you have one as picky as ours. We were always able to find something for her to enjoy, though.

I'm subbing! We are trying WCC for the first time in September. My DD16 is looking forward to it the most!

We are also from SC. What part are you in? We are in Florence. It's nice to see "neighbors" on here!
