Insect Repellant?

When did that start? I'm just curious because we didn't get any in August at the Grand (not like we needed it.. We didn't see an entire mosquito all trip) but there was so much hype around mosquitoes last summer I figured they would have started it then?

I think they did start it last August, towards the end of the month. That's when I heard the first reports of it being in hotel rooms and that's when I started to see the booths set up at the parks and DS. We stayed at the Poly and CSR from August 16th to Sept. 2nd. I heard reports that other people had repellant in their rooms, but we never actually received any in our room.

Being the bug-free time of year up here in the north, I forgot all about mosquitoes and ZIKA.

Has anyone who has been to Disney in the past week or two had a mosquito problem? I don't want to get eaten alive in March, but I prefer to avoid bug spray when possible. We've never even seen a mosquito there in Jan/Oct, but maybe March/Springtime will be different?

Few weeks ago, not in our room like last trip, but still saw plenty of pumps/setups in the parks.

I don't believe i've ever had problems with mosquitos at WDW, but the first week of February last year we stayed at GF. The first night we sat out on the pier to watch the fireworks, and i didn't feel anything bite, but the next morning i had at leat 5 bites of some sort on both legs, and the bites bothered me for the rest of our trip. I didn't even scratch at them, but they (sorry for the vivid description) seeped fluid all week. I had to bandage them. Also last November I was bothered by no-see-ums on our balcony at BWI.

The problem is that we haven't had a hard freeze here in Florida for several winters, so the bugs aren't getting killed off.

There were some pumps in the Parks late last month and a can of "Cutter" was in our DVC unit on the counter in the bathroom area at the BWV.

I stayed at Caribbean beach last September (I imagine a potential mosquito hot bed given the water and swampy area you have to cross to get to the food court) and I was pregnant so I was very careful to always wear repellent, but I didn't see a single mosquito my whole trip. In fact no one in my group of 6 got a single bite and my husband and I were the only ones wearing any repellent. So whatever precautions Disney takes are working.

There wasn't any in our room (at Pop) in January. It never even crossed my mind to ask, but I've never seen a mosquito at WdW, any time of year, and they usually love to bite me.

We had it in our BWV studio in oct and saw it all over the parks. In Jan we saw it in a few places at the parks but not as prominent and it was not in our SSR 2 bedroom.

WE saw mosquito repellant available in the parks. None in our room at the AKL, but there was a can in our room at the GF. We stayed at the AKL first and I had forgotten about Zika as well, so I didn't use the bug spray and had two bites after our first night. I looked for bug spray in the parks after that. The bites were bad and bothered me for the rest of the trip and for the first few days after we arrived home.

I would use repellant in the future from day one.

Last trip, it wasn't in our room at Pop, but the maid carts all had cans of it. So, if you wanted it, I think you can just ask housekeeping.

I've never been bitten by mosquitoes at Disney though.
