We are still guaging availabilities for future trips. (Among the hoard of new owners) Would it, based on other poster's comments, be reasonable to assume that Standard View Studios at BWV are hard to come by for those booking 7 months out? If so, I assume it is the point differential between standard and preferred is to blame? If not, what is it?

Can't wait to get home in October!

Yes, standard view rooms are hard to get at 7 months. However, it is not impossible as several posters have reported obtaining one at 7 months and some even less. Most report they had to utilize the waitlist to get all of their nights.

IMHO, it is mainly the lower point requirements that make standard view rooms so popular. Also, keep in mind that only 17% - 20% (according to other posts) of the total number of rooms are standard view. Some of these rooms have a view of the EPCOT fireworks.

Many DVC members consider the standard view rooms preferrable to paying for a preferred view since there is no way to guarantee a Boardwalk view. In other words, "if I don't get the Boardwalk view, I'd just as soon pay fewer points for the standard view". FWIW, other posters have said that the Boardwalk view rooms make up 20% or less of the total number of rooms available and that it is the most frequently requested view.

I own at BWV and reserved preferred view on our first trip and requested a Boardwalk view at 11 months but got quiet pool view. I don't have extra points to play with, so rather than gamble on it again, I've reserved standard view the past 2 years. We had a nice room last year with a view of the fountain near the bridge in front. We could see the high fireworks from Illuminations and hear the music.

I'm probably in the minority but I didn't like the BW view. Ours was down towards Jelly Rolls and AD. It was very noisy at 2 AM closing all 5 nights we were there. I would rather ask for standard view and save points.
