Innoventions

Is there anything fun to do/see in Innoventions? My nephews told us it was boring on our first trip so we haven't ever been in, but just curious if there's anything that may interest our 4 and 6 year old daughters on this next trip, or if it's one that's okay to skip again.

It really depends...I think some of the interactive things the kids would like.
There is a child's bedroom in it with interactive storytelling and a sort of digital dress up thing for girls.
Other than the kids I wouldn't recommend anyone else taking the time to go in. Nothing in it is really that cutting edge technology wise...just a lot of touch screens.

Me and a CM were there an hour nearly playing the game on the table downstairs. It was my first solo trip back to DLR in years and we were like kids.

there are games upstairs and can be fun if you figure out how to play them.
Lots of wide open carpeted area for the toddlers to run around.

The upstairs stuff has more interest for kids.

These are just a few things upstairs. They can even watch people learn to ride Segways.

Personally, it was kind of lost on me. My two boys (who are big into video games) were entertained, but my DD 4 was bored after about 10 minutes. It didn't help that Asimo wasn't "showing" (or whatever he does) so we didn't even have that to hold us over.....

I do have to say that there are elements of it that remind me of EPCOT (although my memory is sketchy, I was there 20 years ago! ) and made me wish I could take my kids THERE to see what futuristic Disney technology can REALLY do....

Not sure why I love inoventions, but I do! There is always something to do in the parks, this is just one of them I to get out of the heat and to relax and see things.

I agree - it depends on the person. One of my daughters (18) thinks it is a waste of valuable DL real estate, while my other daughter (15) could spend half a day in Innoventions! I could take it or leave it, but go with my younger daughter every time we go to DL.

It has probably changed since your nephews saw it.

We also told my sister to skip it in May of last year, as we found it quite boring in '06. Then, we decided to step in during our last trip (in October) and were surprised to find it had been changed into a sorta "future house" on the lower level.

It is really neat now! Lot of fun, interactive things to do. Don't miss the two bedrooms they have set up for kids. Make sure you listen to the story in the pirate bedroom too! It's told by a CM and is interactive. Even our teens loved it.

 

[Disney Dreams]

I love the ASIMO show. ASIMO is a robot made by Honda and there is a short show that shows how ASIMO could be part of our lives. When you stop and realize it is not a costume, there is not a person inside, and it is truly a human-sized robot (which I think some of the kids don't "get"), it is a pretty cool thing to see.

There is a fun game that teaches about using and saving power. It is sort of like a mix of ice hockey and shuffle board.

We have fun laughing at each other at the aging machines.

And the House downstairs has a lot of fun future-techie things to do. Make sure you catch a storytelling of Peter Pan.

Also, if your kids like video games, you can also use Innoventions as a break time for you. Sit in an air conditioned building and let them play for a bit. LOL
