Inner Harbor?

Hi, we are thinking of going to Baltimore for our 20th in October (since WDW is not in the cards!) Any recommendations for a suite hotel in the Inner Harbor area that will not break the bank? We are bringing our kids with us (13 and 7) but would like some space of our own as well (we can dream!) Also suggestions for sites are most welcome. Thanks!

When my late husband was a patient at Johns Hopkins, we stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott which was very close to the Inner Harbor. We had a suite with two nice bedrooms, a living room and a small kitchen. It would be perfect with kids. Breakfast was included and also evening snacks.

We were in Baltimore in March for spring break. We stayed at the hotel Monaco-Kimpton. Found it on Hotwire for $89.00 a night. It was clean and spacious. Bunk beds and x boxes for the kids and reasonably priced. It was about 4 blocks from the inner harbor.

There is a gorgeous Sheraton right on the water. The Renaissance inner harbor was gorgeous as well. A good mid price hotel would be the embassy suites.

We took the kids to the national aquarium and it was a hit. Good luck whatever you decide.

DH and I are both JHU grads. We took our boys to the Inner Harbor for Spring Break after spending some time on campus. Be careful where you stay as parking can be a killer. We chose the Hyatt Place Inner Harbor. It was not a true suite but there is a parking garage a block away that was $3/day as opposed to $30+ per day.

The aquarium has discounted admission the first Friday of the month.

We used our museum pass to go to the MD aquarium and Port Discovery. Ripleys is sort of fun.

We stayed at the Hilton Homewood Suites in the waterfront area last summer. Nice enough and within walking distance to the National Aquarium and the rest of the district.

We did:
National Aquarium - the highlight of the trip
Port Discovery Children's Museum - cute, with some fun interactive displays for younger children
Historic Ships - these are docked in the harbor, I'm a WW2 buff, so I thoroughly enjoyed the submarine, but even the kids got a kick out of them, and we learned some things too

Make sure you get to crab cake, or preferably steamed crabs, while you are in the area! And there is wonderful pasta to be had in Littly Italy! (Which is close to the harbor.) Our favorite is Sabatino's. They have a seafood fettuccine that is to death for. I get a 1/2 portion with rose sauce (tomato and Alfredo mix). Make sure it is not a weekend the Ravens are in town unless you want to go to the game. It is super crowded and the rooms will cost more.

I believe there are a few Marriott's in that general area as well as maybe a Hilton Garden Inn?

Whatever you choose, Inner Harbor was loads of fun when we went. We did the aquarium, an Orioles game, a Sea Dog speedboat tour (this was by far my favorite part!) and did some shopping and eating. There's a Leinenkugel Beer Garden there that was really neat (if you're a Summer Shandy fan like I am). There's also a Cheesecake Factory, Bubba Gump, Hard Rock Cafe, etc. Tons to do.

The aquarium had half off admission on every Friday(not just the first one) after 5 when we went in march. I purchased the tickets online. We ate at Bubba Gumps seafood. That was fun. Check groupon and living social for deals.

Check out the Ripley's Believe it or Not museum if you want to see some truly weird stuff. I think your 7 yr old will especially find it fascinating. I don't remember how much it costs, but it's right near Bubba Gump's.
