DD7 and I were at Okemo today with the school ski program. DD7's first year skiing is this year....She was doing great, and mastered the poma, so up the quad myself, 2 other adult chaperones,and 4 other kids head...we ski that for about 2 hours...I tell DD and the other adult chaperones I'm heading in to grab a cup of coffee, I'll meet them back here when they come back down.
inside I go, grab my cup o joe, and another parent chaperone comes up to me....she says- "Brandy?"...yup, thats me..."Your needed in First Aide"....HUH? i just left DD what could have happened on the trail she was on? she was doing great turning, slowing and stopping, she knew better than to get out of control, she watches for the crazy jerks that cut her off etc...
"what happened?"..."Cyrena is in there, and she asked for you"...oh...............MY NEICE!!!!....FHEW! DD is okay...I run in there, she got cut off by a Skier, (shes a boarder) and took a nasty tumble, hurt her neck. I see her, she's boarded, with complete mobility restriction...she's FREAKING OUT...I realize she's got the phone up to her ear...I grab it...it's MIL....her dad and my DH were outside of her dad's house with the other kids sledding, and didnt hear Okemo call, so she gave them grammy's ##...I tell MIL that she is okay..she's moving, they dont think anything is broken, she's just VERY scared....
Luckily I drive to Okemo, DD's ride the bus, so I was able to follow the ambulance to the hospital. DBIL and DMIL were there when we arrived. In the end, she had a sore neck, and a headache.
DBIL was distraught, when DMIL got there to pick him up, but then he looked at DH and said "well if anyone could be with her, I'm certainly glad it's Brandy, at least she'll treat her like her own, and will make sure everything is okay."....that made me feel good!..
She's home now laying down watching the game, I Just called to make sure she was okay...she says to me on the phone "aunt brandy, I'm sure glad you got me a helmet for snowboarding for christmas, because the doctor said I would have really hurt my head without one".......yes, dear, I TOLD YOU SO!!
so glad she's okay...and she really had nothing to do with the accident, she did everything she was suppose to, it was the skier, who was out of control, and ran right over her board, which wiped her out.
