Will they allow you to get two 80 point contracts rather than one 160 on initial buy in when buying direct?

Last year, I read that some were allowed to break up their 160 points, as long as the first contract was 100 points.

Not sure if this is still being allowed so the best bet is to contact a DVC guide and ask about the current policy.

Good luck!

I don't know if this helps, but they were doing 100 point initial buy in for AKV while we were there in December.

During a recent DCL cruise, DVC mentioned the ability to have two contracts, so you could leave the separate contracts to different parties in your will, if desired. It was further explained that DVC cannot / will not divide an existing conract into smaller amounts. Do you have a DVC advisor? Did you ask DVC? If so, what was their response. I would imagine they have a minimum buy-in amount. IMHO, they may require a minimum buy-in (ie: 100 points) for newbies ... which would likely be lower for existing members.

We are in the process of buying at BLT at a 210 point level. Our Guide told us that since it is over 200 points, they will let us break it into two title deeds -- a master for 105 and an add-on for 105. She said it is not the norm, and I think it needs to be "approved" by Disney but she said she'd just done it for another client and it was not a problem. It technically is the same contract though and same membership #.

If you really want two separate contracts, I am not sure if they do that.

They have allowed people to split their initial purchase into two contracts. If that's what you want, you need to tell your Guide. If your Guide says, "I don't know if I can do that," ask the Guide to find out and call you back.

ETA: but maybe the people who split their purchase into two contracts were buying at 2 different resorts (100 points at BLT and 60 points at Saratoga Springs).

We did our initial buy in with two different contracts, one for 160 at BLT and one for 160 at AKL. Our guide didn't blink about two different contracts, and we initially planned on having both contracts be at the same resort and that was fine as well. Don't know if this helps or not since our point totals were higher, but it definitely is done.
