I've been worried about there being dairy in Butterbeer for months. Does anyone have a list of ingredients for the Butterbeer they sell in the park?

And, also, does anyone know of a website with regularly updated park menus? AllEars's Universal menus haven't been updated since, it looks like, 2008. I'm hoping the Three Broomsticks will have something me and my sister can eat, with us being vegan. I want Harry Potter food! :eek:

You very probably will be limited to side dishes. I understand they have roasted vegetables and corn on the cob. The main dishes are as follows:

* Rotisserie-smoked chicken
* Chargrilled ribs
* Turkey legs
* Fish and chips
* Shepherd’s pie
* Cornish pasties
* Potato leek soup
* Split pea soup
* Ham soup

No word on butterbeer ingredients yet. You can ask about dairy when you get there - it's an allergen, so they should know.

3 broomsticks is super skimpy on the veg. You can get a side salad and a baked potato that's about it. They might let you order the corn on the cob too but it wasn't listed on the menu. I ate most of my meals out of universal. Citywalk has some good choices. I ate at pastamore and they have build your own pasta which would be good for a vegan. They sell frozen lemonades. popcorn and pretzels which are all vegan. I had a slice of veg pizza in marvel land but you would need to ask for no cheese. Honestly the food at IofA and US are pretty yucky mostly burgers, fries and other gross things. I hope you find some things to get as I was pretty disappointed with the selection. I took larabars and nuts in with me everyday to curb the hunger.

Good luck!!!:wizard:

I had a feeling that would be the case. I'm fine with making a meal out of side items, I just want to know that I can have something. I honestly don't care what it is. I just want to eat in the Three Broomsticks! :goodvibes

Yeah, Universal is definitely lacking in their veg. menu items. Me and my boyfriend usually end up eating veggie burgers. But I've never inquired about the bun, so I don't even know if it's vegan or not. We've been to Pastamore and Citricos, but I don't think they're anything special. If there's one thing Universal could improve upon, it's their park food. (Although they're still better than most theme parks!)

I'm just hoping I can find a handful of Harry Potter food to eat :rolleyes:

You should pop into the Three Broomsticks just for the Chocolate Trifle. It was amazing!

picture is of the one I ate =]

oh, looks like the picture isn't working. And you asked for vegan, not vegiterean. so.....won't work. :/ sorry!

Yeah, pretty sure that has dairy. It looks awesome, though :)

My friend is a Vegan, here's what we found out this weekend:

Butterbeer is dairy free
Potato and Leek soup is not

The roasted corn is great, and you can always eat the french fries. But unfortunately, most things on the menu had some sort of meat or dairy in it.

The head chef came out to give her the run down on what some of the ingredients were (you know, the guy in all the videos who invented the Butterbeer), but I didn't hear what he had to say.

I think for breakfast they had dairy free scones and stuff, but I don't know if the pancakes were dairy free or not.

OMG. Thank you SO MUCH. I can deal with roasted corn and french fries. At least they're Harry Potter roasted corn and french fries :goodvibes AND I AM SO EXCITED TO LEARN ABOUT THE BUTTERBEER! This is the best news I could have hoped for! Thank you so much for taking the time to learn about the ingredients while you were there!

We asked and were told that the butterbeer was non-dairy. In my opinion it was cream soda and non-dairy canned whipped cream. :)

Yeah about the butterbeer. I was hoping to get to try it. Will be there in 3 weeks to try it.

I'm planning to eat at Moe's at City walk for lunch each day rather than try to find vegan eats in US/IOA. We are going to be at IOA/US for 3 full days.

Oh, there's whipped cream? Even if it's labeled as "non-dairy" whipped cream, it probably has some kind of animal ingredient. :sad2: I really hope that's not the case.

Oh, please, please, please report back with what you find out about the Butterbeer. I would be so incredibly grateful.

I hope you have a great trip!

I had the rottesserie chicken with corn and cut up potatoes and man Universal foods never been filling like this lol.

Butterbeer is like cream soda btw :)

Thanks for the help, I am continuously underwhelmed by UO's options for non-meat eaters.

It is not whipped cream and really doesn't even resemble whipped cream except for the fact that it is white. I'd say it is more marshmallow-like or possibly meringue. I know that could be just as bad if not worse because there could be gelatin or egg products in the foam if it is either marshmallow or meringue.

The folks in the Hog's Breath did keep asserting that there was absolutely no dairy in the foam topping though. Lots of chemicals probably, but no dairy.

Yeah, I thought it was just foam. ...I'm hoping it's just foam!

Does Universal have the ingredient booklets available like Disney does?

I know for sure that Universal is horrible with allergies/ food specifics. My youngest brother is anaphylactic-ly allergic to diary(all diary, whey, casiene and all the other weird names), eggs and nuts and whenever we go to disney there is never an issue he can eat all kinds of things and we never have to worry. Yet when we called universal to see if we could talk to dietary needs, they thought we were crazy and they couldnt give us a list of ingredients on anything.

I always try to find out things that our vegan because those are safe for him but there could always be the odd contamination, if you hear anything I would LOVE to know.

do you know if you are planning on getting the frozen butterbeer or the regular one? because i know the frozen one doesn't have the "foam" on top..

Oh, actually you just reminded me. Unlike regular soda or beer, the foam does not form from the bubbles when it is poured, but rather, like whipped cream on top of a milkshake, the foam is dispensed over the top of the beverage from a separate machine. So, if you are worried about the ingredients and cannot get a straight answer, maybe you could just order your butterbeer without the foam topping.

There IS foam on frozen butterbeer, same stuff as regular. However, I noticed it doesn't last as long on frozen as it does on regular. At least, it didn't with mine.
