ING Direct - Any Problems?

So is that true if I transfer money between my ING savings account and my ING checking account? That's mostly what I care about. If we have an emergency I'm going to need to access that money.

Don't know about that one - I don't have a checking account with them.

I went ahead and transferred earlier and did see it would be until March 19th until it is accessable. It is our now our main emergency account, but I still held out about 40% of it in our old savings. I guess I think is it going to be hard to access in an emergency, the point of it. I hope to never have to touch it though!

Thanks for all the info! Sounds like the emails were a glitch.

Transfers between ING accounts are instantly available (that has been my experience).

I signed up for an Orange Savings acct just over a month ago. Unfortunately, a few days later, we got a notice in the mail from my bank that they were adding a Wire Transfer In fee of $10!!!! So, they are going to charge me for putting money into my account? That will make it much harder to transfer any $ out of ING. In a way that is good because I am less likely to touch it, but what is with the freaking bank fees???? This is seriously getting out of hand. DH and I are thinking about shopping around for a new bank...

I have an ING Direct savings account for the past 3 years, and an Orange Checking account for the past year. Love the fact that FDIC insured. I haven't had any issues whatsoever with the accounts. Orange savings returns have been on par for the most part with money market mutual funds. Transfers usually take 3-4 days in general between accounts in my experience.

I have a separate money market with mutual fund company in which I can write a check if needed immediately, but honestly I have only had to do that once in the past 3 years and not out of necessity. I have actually considered closing my other money market account b/c they are going to start charging account minimums soon.

The nice thing about the orange checking is that you can mail a check and save postage. I use this to pay for my son's preschool b/c they don't accept credit cards, and I don't have to worry about writing a check and mailing it every month. Very convenient.

WOW! I'd find a new bank, personally. I am not charged any transfer fees from Chase to move money into ING.

I love ING because it's not easily touchable. It takes a few days to get it back into the checking acct so it's not tempting to pull it out on an impulse purchase.

I have several sub accts set up that are automatically added to each payday. I love going in and seeing those high balances without me even "missing" the money.

We have had ING for years and we love it. I feel safe as long as it is FDIC insured, which I believe it is up to $100,000.

My bank charges for wire transfer fees, but transfers to ING aren't classified as wire transfers (at least to them), so I've never been charged any fees - and I've been with ING for a number of years. You may want to check with your bank to see if ING transfers will be classified as wire transfers.

We have ING accounts and are very happy with them. I first read about ING here on the DIS. So many people were saying positive things, I had to check it out. I'm glad we did! I got CDs for the kids and I'm very happy with the rate we locked into. Glad we got it when we did. It's dropped a lot since then.

I really should use my ING accounts more!

That's what I was hoping, since it was staying within the same bank. I may go test this myself (and then put the money right back into savings) :goodvibes I got my debit card yesterday. :thumbsup2

ETA: Yep! It works! I transfered $20 from my Orange Savings to my Orange Checking account, and the funds came up in the Avaliable column. Excellent. *tents hands*

We have had ING Savings account since 2002 and love it. I've only had to call them once, I changed the address when we moved but hadn't received anything in the mail for 6 mos. after the change. They were helpful, polite and got the problem solved quickly. BTW it was my goofup. If I were you I would call them and explain that I received so many emails and that concerns me.

I opened and ING account with the idea of making that our primary savings account, our interest at our regular bank went from high 3's to low 1's in the new year and no longer want our money there.

Now, I am a little leary because it is online. Both my husband and I got 20 emails (same email) from them when I needed to confirm our account and I find that quite odd.

Anyone have any issues?

You will need to confirm you account with the two small deposits they put into your checking account, if you haven't done that already. But don't use the link that was sent to you in the emails you received just in case it is a phising email.

We have had ING accounts for many years and love them.
