Infrequent Visitor - Anyone else???

we went in 2004 and are going back this year before DS turns 3 (to keep him free!!), we probably won't go back for another 4 years, if we go back at all. DH and DD are just as happy going to the beach for a week as they are going to Disney, I'm the freak.

My visits are pretty infrequent. We did live in Florida when I was younger, and went quite often (residents passes), but since then I've only been twice. Once for spring break in 2001 and then again in 2006, because my brother was going with the band and marching in a parade. That's when I decided I wanted to go for my honeymoon which will put me a little over 2 years between trips (January 2007 to Jan 2009). I was trying to plan a Girls Trip for my graduation next May, but my BIL decided that he wants to come. He wants to be the first to take his son to Disney, and doesn't want my sister going until they can all go together. I'm planning on mapping out the details with him, my mom, and my sisters when we're visiting in July. My sister is due July 31st. We decided that he can come along with the rest of the boys in our lives. We'll just plan a special day or two to have "girl time." It will probably work out better this way, because his parents just bought a house 5 minutes away from Disney. As much as I want to stay on the property, having free accommodations is amazing. It means that if my fiance and I get annual passes, then the only thing we'll have to worry about for that second trip is the food, and getting there.
Depending on my finances at the time, I'm considering booking a couple nights in an on-site hotel, so my youngest brother and sister can experience it, but if I do it will be because I get an amazing deal, and it will be a surprise.

After that I probably won't be back for quite a while. I'll need to wait until we're financially stable enough to justify it. The only reason I can justify it now is because it's my honeymoon, and the second trip will be half paid for, so it just makes sense to make that my graduation trip, as opposed to taking my mom to Ireland or Italy, which would be more expensive than Disney, only including airfare.

We went for the first time in Feb. 2007. I had just got a full time job and my requirements were that if I had to work full time again I was finally going to Disney darn it! We loved it so much that leaving was a real struggle.
Not a month has gone by since when one of us moans that we wish we were at Disney again.
When we got our boxes of stuff we had shipped home we took turns smelling the Disney air that we swore we could smell when we opened them up.

I couldn't visit DIS without being depressed and tearing up. Forget the trip report that I took notes and pics for all vacation.
What is it with Disney that it makes us so emotional? When I found out we could go again this year I was overjoyed and the obsessive planning started again!

The plan was to go again in August to celebrate the adoption of our second daughter (she was getting jealous hearing about Disneyworld all the time!)
Well I am working a new job and might not get to go in August. When I told the kids they were upset but then I told them we could always go for a long weekend to Lake Michigan, and the complaints stopped. Plus we can plan for Feb again when it will be cheap and cool!:cloud9:

I want Disney to be magic for us and it won't be if we go every year I bet.
My kids are into swimming and camping (no more tents ever again though!) and like traveling around the state too. So we are going to keep Disney for every 2 or 3 years. The rest of the time we want to visit every Great Lake in MI (3 to go) and go out west to see the Grand Canyon. When you look at a map you don't want the only place you have ever been to be Orlando!

When I went to Disney we spent a LOT of money :scared1: and while it's something we always want to do we also understand that we can have a lot of fun for sometimes 1/4 the price!

I am planning an adult only trip for my 20th anniversay in 5 years also. The kids will be older and should understand. Unless I just lie. Nah, they will catch me, they will smell the Disney on my breath!

We just got back from our 2nd trip and we won't be going back anytime soon. We had a terrific time but Disney is expensive and we just can't afford to go every year. We have friends that go several times a year and just don't understand it. Don't get me wrong, I love Disney!!!...but can't afford to go often. Plus my DH isn't crazy about Disney. We went last month and had a great time but he has no desire to return anytime soon.

Hi SuziMom-

I'm trying to increase my post count so I can reply to your PM.

There's all kinds of posts from me on various boards in my attempt!

Like everyone else here,I love love love WDW! We go every 4 years, and to be honest, that's fine for me. We're going again this summer(we can't wait!)and I am so excited! There are new restaurants to try,and new rides to go on,plus all the other fun things I liked 4 years ago. For me,going too frequently would definitely kill the buzz of WDW! Also,I like to go for at least
10 days. By letting a few years go by before my next visit,I can save lots of cash to pay for an awesome trip. I think there's a lot of people that go frequently because they are ok with staying at a value resort and eating peanutbutter sandwiches packed from home. The magic for me is having a little luxury for 10 days. I guess its a trade off.
Whenever you go,ENJOY YOUR VACATION!!!!!:goofy:

"Infrequent" doesn't begin to cover it for us. The last time my husband and I were in WDW together was 1990. (Last month he was lucky enough to chaperone during Grad night without me.) Our kids have never been there, nor do we expect to be back again soon after our August trip.

We're both teachers in Catholic High Schools. A typical vacation for us is a week in a cabin in upstate Lake George. (Though if the price of gas keeps increasing, even that may have to be re-evaluated next year.)

Like you, after we get back I plan to offer up to date info for anyone who wants it, then find myself another obsession.

Another infrequent visitor here!

Our first visit was for our Disney wedding in September 2005. My DH decided that's where we should get married and it was unbelievably magical!

The "bad" side was that we were so busy with the wedding stuff that we missed some "key" attractions.

I've been dying to get back!!!! I'm always here on the DIS chatting with friends and it's so hard to see them all going to WDW multiple times a year...but I enjoy listening to their plans and learning about things to do and see when we finally get back.

Luckily, a convention popped up that my employer said I could go to...AT DISNEYWORLD!!!:yay: So our official countdown is on...

I want to try to budget a trip at least every other year from now on...

We're infrequent visitor's also. I used to live in FL, so I went a couple of times a year. I was such a Disney nut. I used to have everything with a Mickey Mouse on it. Then I moved to SC, got married, took my DH for his 1st trip to WDW on our 1st anniversary. He loved it and we actually went back a couple of more times. I had hoped to go more often but after 3 kids (about 4 years apart) we could never find the "right" time to go. Went in 2000, but the trip lasted 2 days (3 if you count the day at the hospital). Went back in 2001. We haven't been back since 2001. I was just thinking yesterday while I was doing some Disney planning that this will probably be our last WDW trip as a family.:( By the time we can afford to go again, oldest son will be off to college. Actually by then we won't be able to afford to go;) ! I'll enjoy the DISboards as long as I can though! I think I will be sooooo sad after our trip in September.
