Hi,
I'm hoping someone could give me some advice about renting out points. If we decide not to rent out our points how far in advance can you actually call member services to book Disneyland Paris if we wanted to go in either summer ( Aug) or December?
Any advice greatly appreciated :)
Thanks

Hopefully someone will pm you regarding renting out your points.

I only want to rent out to uk disers and so far have done so 3 times. Unfortunately I had to turn down many people as I had run out of points.

I would not feel comfortable advertising on the US board even though you could use paypal to get round the dollar thing. I feel that I know the people on the UK board even if only virtually, it definately feels like you are renting out to friends.

Good luck

I'm afraid I can't help, but it is something I've also been wondering about. I know there's a time going to come when we won't use our points and renting would be the best option, but like you I don't want to jump through the extra hoops renting to someone in the US.

You can book your DLRP trip from 11 months to 14 days in advance. But Members cannot book and travel on The Disney Collection vacations (excluding Disneyland Resort hotels in California) within the last 4 months of their Use Year.

hope this helps.

I have just rented out points for the first time. I posted on the DVC board and got loads of replies from people in the US - some then changed their minds when they actually read the post and realised I was in the UK. The majority of them only wanted points for a few nights so I could have ended up doing loads of transactions.

In the end, I had enquiries from 2 people in the UK and have been able to rent all my points to them. I advertised the points in $ (usually around $10 per point) and then converted to £.

I did feel happy to get 2 people in the UK but if it came to it then I would have rented to someone in the US providing they had been on Dis for a while and had rented before - some posters seem to have just joined for the purpose of renting DVC points.

Unfortunatly for you the Dis no longer allows UK DVC members to advertise their points on the UK DVC forum, I had a thread locked when I tried to do this a few months ago with the explanation that they must be placed on the DVC rentals board. I had no problems with the US family I dealt with and have in fact dealt with US families on both occasions I wanted to offload points. Perhaps the forum guides could find a way of this been allowed.

That is correct. All rental/transfer offers and transactions are now limited to the Rent/Trade board. This way they are located on a single board, and can be monitored by the R/T Board database.

I understand wanting to deal with folks in the UK, if I lived there, I would be more comfortable doing so, too. And you are certainly welcome to add that to your R/T post, that you would like to rent/transfer to people in the UK only :) You are also welcome to advertise the desired price in pounds or euros. That would probably discourage most of the US inquiries.

Personally I couldn't care less what country the person with who I was doing the transaction came from, so long as they spoke decent English so that the deal is fully understood.
The likelyhood of the person wanting to rent coming from anywhere other than UK,USA,Ireland or Canada I imagine would probably be highly unlikely.
For me so long, as the transaction goes smoothly, in other words I get my money and they get their room booking.
I would say however that it is wise on both sides of the agreement to use a service such as paypal for the security that it offers.

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies.

I would be happy to rent to folks from the US as well as the UK, but I guess its just easier just to deal in pounds rather than dollars, that said, I do have a paypal account so if I did rent to someone from the US it would be okay.
I'm trying to avoid renting all together to be honest as I really want to go myself!! ;) There is also a chance my brother may want to use the points from last year anyway so if that happens - problem solved! :thumbsup2

I do have another couple of questions about this....

If my brother wanted to go on Sept 14th 2009 until 24th Sept 2009 and stay somewhere other than SSR (both him and his GF love animals and love the look of AKL) when could I book this for him with the new booking rules?

Is there a chance I would be able to get a studio SV for him at 7 months out? what do you think would be better - Jambo or Kidani? His GF has never been to Orlando, my brother hasn't been for 10 years.

Sorry this is a bit of an odd question, but how do you access the rooms at AKL? are they outside like at SSR - e.g. you check in and then leave the reception, go outside and back in the building you stay in? like in a villa hotel or do you access the rooms via the main reception and lobby? like a traditional hotel, sorry I'm sure there are technical names for these accomodations, but I don't know them!

If I can't get a room for him at AKL has anyone had problems booking a studio at SSR at 7 months out? (by the time this is all decided it will be 7 months out anyway).

Thanks in advance! :)

I believe Kidani will have its own check-in desk, so you would not have to leve the building after check-in. If not, you can book them into Jambo, the villas in that building are definitely in the same building as check-in.

September is a relatively slow time at WDW and also DVC, and should give you a good chance at booking those dates at your choice of resort at 7 months.
