Hey everyone! I am an escape bride 8/18/11 I can't thank everyone enough for all their help! I am looking into a formal lunch reception in their private room.

I have some questions about The Wave restaurant:

Has anyone booked their private room before?
What does it look like (pics please!!)?
How was the food?
Are you able to decorate the room or have any add-ons?

Any information is welcomed and appreciated!! :)

I've never booked their private room before, but the best steak I ever ate in my ENTIRE life was at Wave two years ago :) I even checked their menu to see if the same meal is on there...I think it still is, it came with some sort of shredded sweet potatoes or something similar...beat steak EVER! :) :cool1:

When I was researching the Wave, this was the only photo I could find that I *think* shows where the "private room" is ... I actually think the curtains are drawn across to make the area private, rather than it being an actual room with walls. I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong. :)

The private room is a section at the back of the restaurant separated by walls and glass panels that, I was told, slide closed. Half the room seats 35 people; the whole room seats 50.

• 1–35 people: $200 for brunch, $400 for lunch, $1,500 for dinner
• 36–50 people: $400 for brunch, $800 for lunch, $2,000 for dinner

Here's what it looks like:

Thank you so much for the pictures it really makes a difference!!!

Does anyone know if they would let you bring in decorations?

Carrie, thank you for posting those! I'm so glad I had the wrong area -- that is so much better! :goodvibes

No problem! I think the Wave is one of the best-kept secrets when it comes to private meals for Escape weddings.

You can work with the restaurant manager (and the WDW Florist, if you like) to have table decor set up. Usually they're cool with setting out a few things if you drop them off earlier in the day, but definitely talk to them to see how much they're willing to do. The number is 407-824-1862.

This is great to know, does anyone know if you use their menu, or do you get a larger party menu, or if they let you costimize it? Thanks! Lurkyloo, are those prices that you mentioned minimums?

I'm not Carrie, but yes, those are the minimums. And parties over 20 have to order off of a group dining menu. The one I was sent had a salad, an entree (choice of 3 or 4 different ones), dessert and coffee, tea or pop. It was $37/pp, and the kids' menu is (IIRC) $8. I was told that the menu changes seasonally, so the menu I received may not be the one that's in effect for this fall -- they're supposed to get me the new one when/if it becomes available.

Hi,

We ate at the wave a few weeks ago, and we were sat right next to the private dining room. We didn't take any pictures unforutnatly, but just thought i'd chime in and say it looks like a lovely place for a reception! It reminded me of Jiko Wine Room because of the windows etc, and it is all decorated out really nicely. We hadn't realised you could hire it out - thought maybe it was just an expansion of the dining room and wondered what we had to do to eat in there! I guess now we know!

Sounds like a good plan to me!

Lurkyloo you are an incredible source of information!! I have so enjoyed reading your responses to those seeking assistance here!

You mention up above that the minimum for the Wave is $400 for lunch for a party under 35. Do you know if they will tailor a menu for the semi private lunch?

Most posts reference an $800 limit for lunch.......is this just for more than 35 guests?

If so, the $400 choice is VERY affordable!

Thanks again.

Hi there! :)

I'd say this depends on the chef, so you'd need to talk to them about it. On the one hand, the reason for the set menu is to make it easy for them to host private functions. But on the other hand, it's Disney—they seem to like to make people happy! :goodvibes

Correct - if you have 35 or fewer, you only need to use half the room, so the minimums are lower.

Happy planning!
