I know the Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs are the main day spas on Disney Property. I think some other Deluxe hotels also offer day spa services.

My question is - what hotels offer Day Spa services - and does anyone know the prices or know how to get ahold of a price list / descriptions for the Day Spa services?

Thanks in advance!!!

I PM'd Buzz2001 a couple of weeks ago to ask a question about CSR. He sent me a list of services and prices for CSR spa services. I'm afraid don't know how to post them, but you might ask him where he got the list. I think most of the deluxe resorts also have some spa services don't they?

The AKL spa offers great treatments. I have several booked next week.

We've been to and enjoyed the GF spa on several occassions.

However, Dis Board Member: Johnsonet is the GF SPA Expert :worship: .....she practically "lives" there.

Liz, where are you?!?!?!?!? :rotfl:

Thanks Gordon for pointing out this post to me :teeth: Maybe after my Sept./Oct. trip I can be considered an "expert" :jumping1:

DizzKnee, all I can add is that IMO you should try one of the "destination" spas - GF or Saratoga Springs. "My" massage therapist ;) told me that the SSR spa is very nice (and new) and has a great gym. Depending on where you are staying, you might want to try that one. For me, staying at the GF, the GF Spa was incredibly convenient and I loved it there. You get more of a spa experience when you have the spa and not just a fitness center. You'll be able to enjoy the whirlpool, sauna, steam room, locker room and showers, etc. Of course, the prices are a bit higher for this reason. I like to allow myself about 30 minutes to get my locker, shower, change into a spa robe and sip tea and read magazines in the waiting area while waiting on my therapist. That winding down period adds a lot to one's experience, IMO.

Good Luck!

Johnsonnet,

Can you talk at all about the in-room couples spa treatment?

I'm sorry, sdlipton but I don't have any experience with couples' massage or in-room massage. Hopefully someone else can help :flower:

As I've previously mentioned, Liz is the expert, but I'll chime in.

We had a couples :love2: aromatherapy massage two trips ago (October 2004) when we were there without our 2 DD's. It was at the spa not in room.

We went to our gender specific areas first. We worked out, showered, refreshed with water and juice and put on our robes. Then they brought us in our rooms with the divider open. We were able to greet each other and select our oils. The divider was open and we were able to converse when we wanted to.

In a word....marvelous! Very discreet and serene, but friendly and open... if that makes sense. We had it late in the afternoon, and we were SOOO relaxed the rest of the evening.

We then went back and ordered room service and enjoyed the rest of the evening together! :rolleyes1

Just so you know...
The prices are higher at the spas than at the fitness centers because, I assume, of the extra amenities I mentioned in an earlier post.

One example: A 50-minute Swedish massage at AKL Fitness Center will cost $80, while a 50-minute Swedish massage at the GF Spa costs $110.
"My First Facial" at a Fitness Center is $60 and at GF is $65...One more example, an 80-minute aromatherapy massage at SSR is $175, while the fitness centers offer a 75-minute aromatherapy massage for $145.

Also, I PM'd a member of this board who is a massage therapist at SSR Spa. She told me that the therapists who work in the fitness centers rotate but that, in general, the therapists at GF Spa and SSR Spa generally stay put. I asked my favorite therapist at the GF about this a week or so ago and he said he pretty much stays at GF but will occasionally help out over at SSR.

I told you she was the EXPERT! :teeth:

You all are a wonderful with the info. I have a regularly scheduled massage at the Wellness Center in my hometown. I am looking to stay on my every other week schedule - and would need to pick up an appointment during my trip to WDW.

Thanks for the quick reply and the wonderful information about prices and stuff.

One more question - for those of you who go have spa services at the WDW - do you tip - and at what percentage?

thanks!!

20% for us.

No offense but OF COURSE I tip. Especially if you are pleased with your treatment, you should tip! I tip 20%, which can definitely add up, but this is how you show your therapist your appreciation (also your hairstylist, manicurist, etc.). My GF Spa massage therapist thanked me several times for the tips I'd left for him (in the tiny envelopes provided at the front desk) - this led me to believe that a 20% tip is not the norm. He is an excellent therapist. If I'd had a not-so-great experience I might have tipped only 15%. Although the treatments are expensive, keep in mind that the therapist makes maybe about half of the treatment's cost. I have no idea about what percentage they actually make. I'm basing the 50% number on what therapists at my regular day spa here at home make...

No offense is taken.

As I said I go to a Wellness Center - the therapists there are employees of the hospital this center is affliated with - and they are not allowed to accept tips. I believe at the Wellness Center they are paid a good salary and they have the normal type of benefits that the hospital offers to nurses and whatnot.

I do give my regular theripist 'holiday gifts' to express my appriciate of how good she makes me feel, but it is a gift I am giving to a friend.

I just did not know if WDW considered this a 'tipped' position or not.

Someone posted that they have 'spa services' booked somewhere else than the Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs ....

Did you get a price list - or a phone number to know where to book?

DizzKnee Do you mean elsewhere on Disney property? The fitness centers at the other resorts offer treatments. Look here for resorts, offerings, prices and phone numbers: http://www.relaxedyet.com/fitness.shtml
Good luck!

Do you "spa experts" know if it is difficult to just walk in and sign up for a facial? I'm not sure if I can fit one in next week, so haven't booked, and was hoping that I may be able to call that morning, or something.

BEACHANGEL - did you have trouble getting a time for next week!?!?!
