I am (and have been!) trying to call to member services to get the information. I will continue to try to contact them and I won't hold anyone here at their word. I have read and searched but remain confused. Just trying to get my ducks lined up.

Question--

Use year is June

I have reservations for over New Years. I borrowed some from 2021 use year although we still have 80 left in 2020 year. I don't remember why.

We have gone for several years with friends and would hate to miss it this year. However, things are challenging and we may have to cancel.

What happens to our points if we cancel now? What about if I cancel later? Are the 2020 points bankable?

What's going on? The world's gone crazy in so many ways.

Thanks for any help--

June 2020 points are bankable until Jan. 31, 2021. However, the June 2021 points that were borrowed cannot be returned to their original UY (at least, not under the usual rules). They would have to be used for a reservation ending no later than the night of May 31, 2021.

Are you confirming that they are no longer returning borrowed points into their original UY? They still returned mine as of yesterday.

No. I have no recent experience with that. My cancelled reservation was in May and I was able to call to have the borrowed points put back. Since there’s no way to tell when DVC will stop allowing borrowed points to be put back, and the OP was ambivalent about when they would cancel, that’s why I said “not under the usual rule”. If there’s any doubt as to how the points will be handled, it’s best to call MS instead of cancelling online.

I think that’s my current gripe, there’s no information online about this policy, chat is unavailable, emails are taking week+ for replies, and it took me 106 attempts to enter the 1hr wait queue for the phone yesterday. Plus, it appears the policy is inconsistently discussed by MS...one person replied to me yesterday and said they had no issues with returning to original UY, my CM made it sound like she was doing me a favor against usual policy.

Crazy times.

I think that is on purpose because they want to be able to end the temporary borrow and holding rules when it makes sense and not set a date.

It is frustrating but now that resorts are open..other than Aulani...everyone should assume it could go away any time.

Which may have been yesterday, based on my interaction with MS... but it's so unclear, one is almost tempted to keep asking daily on behalf of all the DISboard folks. Hopefully others will report back!
