I am thinking of booking a stay at Davy crockett.

We have stayed at all the DLP hotels virtually but this time we are travelling with my parents who are on a budget.
We also have a baby and a five year old.

We will be going by car.

I would be grateful for ANY information/ recommendations.

In particular:
Which trail would we ask for to be as close as poss to pool?
(my mum has problems walking)
Or can you take car to pool?

Can you tell me about breakfast?

Do you still get characters visiting?

Thanks a LOT!

I'll find the thread where a scan of the map was posted and give you the link.
Cars can be taken very close to where the pool.

Breakfast is collected from huts that are positioned in every trail.
My trip report I'm sure has a photo.

Characters definitely visit throughout the day and definitely in the evening where the CM's normally have an organised event.

When we go back DCR is now our first choice location :)

Reid, Could you tell me more about the CM organised events in the evening please? We're bringing our trip this year forward - probably to May and are torn between staying at the Cheyenne or DCR.

Davy Crockett is wonderful - we stayed there every trip until we got an upgrade to Sequoia Lodge. There had been a storm and a lot of trees blew down (I can't remember which year that was..) Also as the youth element got older and uglier and wanted to go off on their own, it was far easier at a hotel on site - where you can just say 'Here's your ticket - I'm going back to sleep!' Not that we are bad parents mind you!
There is a car park right next to the pool - very short walk into the village part of the complex. I don't think you get a choice as to where you stay - this is allocated at the check in - although I guess you could put in a special request. Also there are steps up to the cabins - about 4 if I remember correctly - so hope this will not prove a problem.
We went back for the first time for several years this year - just for one night on two seperate occasions (we had season tickets this year and obviously had to make full use of them!)
The first time we arrived on Saturday - dumped youth element in pool and went to Val d'Europe for food and barbecue coals - had a barbecue late into the night - it was magical! (We were not raucous!)
Second time we went we arrived on Sunday and Auchan was shut - so we had to buy from the store in Davy Crockett - not as much choice and far more expensive - but still good fun. We didn't even get down to the CM organised events - although on one occasion we went down to the store and there was a VERY LOUD disco going on - which the CMs seemed to be enjoying if no-one else was!
Crockett is great for young families, and if you don't mind the drive at the end of the day.
We combined both our trips this year with the Holiday Inn, as we like that extra element of freedom (OK, and drinking in the restaurants!)
We are planning on going back in June this year (overtime willing) - just to stay and enjoy the site, the pools and try out the woodland thing. My beloved doesn't believe that I will leap from tree to tree!
It is a place that you can stay in for a couple of nights and not even go to Disney at all.
Whatever you decide - have fun!
Liz

Thanks Liz - I think you've just sold it to me!

Ranch DC crockett is great, we are big fans

we were last there for 5 days in June.

We never walked to the pool, in the car every time. The fantastic pool is one of the reasons we stay there.

The ability to self cater & seperate bedrooms Plus sitting room is ideal when you have kids. the ranch is near enough to go back in afternoon for a swim or a nap.

Parking at the parks is free plus on an evening parking for the Disney village is in a new multi-storey car-park. If you show your Pass( you get one to prove which days you are staying at the ranch,) the parking fee is waived there too. You must go into the car-park office on your return to the car-park for them to do this.

The breakfast is fine & you only have to go the the entrance of your loop to pick it up. We walked every morning but others did get the car out. You get
tea, coffee & dried milk
orange juice & choc milk
Croissents & bagette
sugar , butter & jam

The croissents are fresh & I'm sure your 5 yr old will love going to pick it up. It all comes in little cardbord disney hampers.

We ate our evening meal twice at the ranch. They do a very good value buffet. Characters come round during the meal, they also appear during the day & on an evening. Whilst we were there there was a free tea time character meet in the bar with free tea, coffee & drinks for the kids. We didn't go as my kids were too old.

Also on an evening we noticed cm's providing colouring & craft activities for the little ones.

We also went to see the Disney reindeer, they pull Santa sleigh at Christmas & the rest of the year live at the ranch. But we had to tramp over a field & there aren't any signs to find them. But DD aged 14 wanted to see them!

That's all I can think of at the moment but any more you'd like to Know, do ask away.

WOW!
Thanka a lot for all the great info.
You've definately convinced me.

I am going to get OH to phone up tommorrow!

I have showed my five year old the virtual visits on the DLP site and he is very excited!

Great news. Let us know when it is all booked up and remember you can post up on the "when you are going sticky".

I've been promising to do the DCR hotel FAQ so I'll make an effort to get this done in the next week or so as interest in DCR seems to be high :goodvibes

Sue you know DCR very well so please chip in with ideas or anything I miss :)

This Davy crockett Ranch sounds very interesting....but there NO shuttle bus! How far is it from the resort? How easy is it to drive from CDG to Disneyland paris...and more importantly, can you do it WITHOUT going anywhere near Paris itself. I have never driven in France and would be very apprehensive!

Took us 30 mins from driving out of airport with hire car to get to Ranch and that is the opposite direct than going to Paris :)
Resort is 5/10 minutes drive to park so handy for mid-day breaks back to DCR for lunch in cabin or to go for a swim :)

Could not find the thread, but scanned in a copy :)

Thanks for that Reid, I've been looking for the one we brought back last year.

Hedghog, the drive to DLP from DCR is very easy, short ride on the motorway and then follow the signs. The one thing I liked was seeing the signs, going under the Disneyland 'arch' and then the moving walkway. Music was playing in the background and starts the experience straight away rather than when we stayed at SL where we walked through Disney Village listening to euro pop!

We were walking up from the car park and literally bumped into pluto :worship: , now that wouldn't happen on Tewkesbury high street! Would post the photo but haven't got a clue how!

Anthony you need a site such as photobucket, imagestation or our very own Dis Community Photoboard to host it. See http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=594

Once you have loaded up your photograph happy to help you load it if you get stuck.

Thanks again Reid, at work at the moment but I'll hold you to that.
So I take it you can't just copy and paste.

Once it is loaded up to a site it is possible to put the link in a post so that the image is displayed. It cannot be copied and pasted AFAIK.
