My family is planning a our first trip to US/IOA for November and I have been going 'round and 'round on a decision about our hotel. I had looked at staying at the Holiday Inn Main Gate but saw so many terrible reviews on trip advisor and other hotel review sites such as "run as far from this place as you can", but also saw this on their website...(hope this is okay for me to post here)

We ask for your patience and cooperation during this exciting time as we work to improve your guest experience.
I e-mailed the general manager of the hotel telling him of our plans and our concerns and all the bad reviews I have read. I wanted to share this everyone looking for a hotel close to Universal but not on-site. This is the response I received from Mr. Morrison, Director of Sales & Marketing...

Thank you for your email. Our renovations are currently winding down and we expect to be completed by the end of August. We are very excited as the renovation included the entire property inside and out. Sleeping rooms are completely renovated with new carpet, furniture, linens, and artwork. They really are beautiful. Public space was also renovated with new Carpet, Furniture and artwork. They pool has new tile and landscaping that included a beautiful winding trellis. Added to the pool area is an interactive kids splash zone with water jets and water canopy, very fun and exciting. The exterior also received an upgrade with new architectural enhancements and an attractive color pallet.
Also, bare in mind, as a Universal Partner Hotel, we also offer transportation to Universal Orlando Resort as well as discounts on food and merchandise at select park locations. Located just across the street from Universal Orlando Resort make us the perfect locations for you holiday.
As I mentioned, we are very excited with the renovation and look forward to you arrival. "
I am feeling alot better about this hotel. I am still going to wait to actually book something until after the renovations are completed and I am hopeful that the reviews will get much better!
