Just booked our cruise on the Disney Fantasy for the Western Caribbean in Jan 2014! We had booked rooms on deck 8 in the aft. However, after reading some reviews, some have said that the back of the ship can have some shaking and vibrating. I do agree that it depends on people's sensitivities. However, my sister is very sensitive to the movement of the ship and has gotten sick a couple times on past cruises. So most likely she would be bothered. Anyway, we switched to two Category 7A room on the 9th floor towards the front. I thought at the time that they were traditional navigator's verandahs like on the Magic and Wonder. However, after I found that they were obstructed view regular verandahs, I was quite pleased!

Now, to my real question. I haven't seen any actual reviews or pictures of these particular rooms. I am not that concerned about the view. My real concern is whether these rooms have pull down beds in addition to the convertible couch. Reason being is I will be sharing the room with my two teenage brothers and none of us wish to share the queen sized bed! I asked the woman who switched my reservation and she simply said yes. I am now seeing where people say these type of rooms sometimes only sleep three. So, I am concerned. Can anyone who stayed in either of these rooms confirm that they have the pulldown bed?

Thanks!:beach:

Welcome to the Disboards. :cool1:

These rooms sleep 3 or 4. If sleeping 4 DCL counts queen bed as two, couch as one, and a ceiling pull down bunk as one. So if they say the room sleeps 3 that is not the bed configuration you seek, it will lack ceiling bunk. You want a room that sleep 4 in this cat to assure there is the ceiling bunk.

For some reason DCL keeps bed configurations to themselves. Call them or have your TA call and request which beds are in these rooms. Ask if a ceiling pull down bunk is in said cabins.

On the Dream 9512 does not have the ceiling bunk. Not sure about Fantasy.

Have you seen this exterior photo?

Sorry not much help. :lmao:

ETA; From my iffy research on DCL site, 9512 on Fantasy does not have ceiling pull down bunk.

Thanks for the info.
I haven't seen any reviews about 9512 from someone who actually went on the Fantasy. From what I can tell, the Dream doesn't have the pulldown bed. From the different websites I've been on, most are mixed about whether they sleep 3 or 4 on the Fantasy. I did ask the woman who changed my reservation, but I was booking through DVC so she was on the other line with DCL. She was passing the info onto them and vice versa, and she did not switch over to ask them specifically, she just told me yes. In hindsight, I should have insisted she found out, but I thought she knew what she was talking about.

My parents will have an extra bed in their room, but I'm sure my brother would rather not stay with them and the feeling is mutual. Of course, if he has to, he has to. I don't think it is worth it to pay another $95 to switch rooms again.

If I wanted to call and ask if that room does indeed have the pulldown, should I call DCL directly or go through DVC again?

Call DCL directly twice for verification.
Then call DVC back and inquire about getting the bed config you initially requested.

I will do that. I don't imagine we should have to pay for any change seeing as I did ask. I wonder if they really do record all conversations... It would be useful in this situation.

Thanks again!

Well, I got ahold of DCL and they confirmed that 9512 was only a three person room. Then I got ahold of DVC and they still had to call DCL to confirm what I already knew. So we had to change rooms. We ending up going down a category to 8B, but it is actually a bigger room just sans veranda, which I don't care that much about, anyhow. It would have been nice to have a veranda, but I can go down to my sister's room 4 doors down and sit out on hers! The room is in the location that we wanted in the bow on the 9th floor, so its better than good! I know that this room is more than big enough and my brothers will prefer to sleep on the Murphy bed rather than the upper berth anyway.

They did make me pay the change fee again minus the amount we were saving by going down in category, so it ended up being $87. They basically said that DCL didn't care since we were only 3 people, they put us in a 3 person room. Even though that wouldn't have personally worked for us, it was our problem if we wanted to change again. I can't say I blame them, plus it was worth it so that everyone will get along and get plenty of sleep on our wonderful vacation!

They did say that the Category 7A rooms in the aft of the ship are 4 person rooms. I don't know why they don't make all the rooms 4 person rooms, but I'm sure they have their reasons.

(We could have switched to 9652, but we didn't want to be in the aft or away from the rest of our family).

Curious after traveling in room 9012 this past year what your thoughts are... We just booked that room for spring break 2015 and have similar concerns as to size of the verandah. Do you have any pictures you can share?
