Can a Disney Vet. give me some info. on CR. I really can't find much on web and GR says they dont mail out brochures anymore. I have 3 DK ages 8,14,17. Would like to be on Monrail track is this the best place to stay having last min. doubts.

Sounds like the CR will be perfect for your family. The monorail goes right through the center of the main building - exits onto the fourth floor Concourse with great shops and restaurants - Chef Mickey's and Concourse Steakhouse. Be sure to look for the five legged goat in the mural.

Be sure to check out the 15th floor - California grill has a very nice menu - and the observation decks are a perfect place to view the fireworks and the Castle's Kiss Goodnight, even if you're not eating at the restaurant.

The rooms are very large, fit a family of five very comfortably!

My 3 daughters, ages 5, 11, 13, absolutely loved the arcade in their downtime - it's on the 1st floor right across from the Food N Fun Center Food Court.

The food court has great food for that type of thing - my DH loved the fries & cheeseburger basket. It doesn't have many tables though - not a problem during the slow season when we go, but it could be a concern during prime times, especially now that Shades of Green is renting most of the North Wing.

The main pool has a fun slide - not a whole lot of theming, but two hot tubs. The boat dock rents Water Mice - great fun for the kids! There is also a quiet pool closer to the beach.

The Wing rooms are much less expensive than the tower rooms, but just as nice (We've stayed in both) - just be sure to request a room near the main tower as the hallways toward the lagoon are a long walk from the main building.

Be sure to catch the Electrical Water Pageant- it goes by the Contemporary Beach every night at 9:45 or so - just a little added magic.

As you can tell by my screen name - our family loves the CR - we stayed there on our honeymoon 16 years ago, and still love it!

I second the vote for the Contemporary, with kids that age! They have a fantastic arcade, you can't beat the walk to the MK...only about 7 minutes, the convenience of the monorail line, the energy, and the size and layout of the rooms! We LOVED it, and we were in the South Wings, and didn't find the walk to the main building to be long or inconvenient at all. We were in room 6217, with a great view of Bay Lake! Fantastic!

Contemporary is in my top 2 favorite resorts! I especially love the Tower with its views of the Magic Kingdom and/or the lagoon. The castle is spectacular at night, and the water pageant is adorable. I always feel right in the thick of things when I stay at the Contemporary. My kids love the monorail going through the building (and so do I). The arcade is really cool, too. My kids spent hours there. I think you'll have a great time at the Contemporary!

Hello Anita, welcome to DIS.

Click on the link in my signature so that you can look at pictures of the resorts and the rooms to see which one appeals to you.

Have fun.

I agree, the CR is a great place to stay. It's very busy and and there's lots of fun things to do. Chef Mickey's is a favorite, as is California Grille. The pool is large and the water slide is fun. You have access to the monorail or the ability to walk to MK. The rooms are big and recently renovated, I understand. We stayed in the north wing which was close to the bus stop. We caught a great view of the fireworks one night right outside our window. I don't think you'll be disappointed depending on what you're expecting.

Seeing the ages of your kids I agree they would love the CR. The Food & Fun Center with the arcade is great. Your 2 oldest (maybe the 3rd) could probably go to MK or Epcot alone if you felt comfortable via the monorail.

Rooms are large & fit 5 comfortably. We were nervous about size, but they are roomy. Request 1st floor so you have a patio.

You can take the boat over to Fort Wilderness or WL to rent bikes. They have a great bike trail that goes from WL to FW. FW has a great breakfast buffet. Alot of pluses with staying at CR.

Another thumbs up from me for it.
