Info on bedrooms at WL

Just wanted to pass this information along to all of you:

We had originally booked a king bed room at WL, but then I started reading posts indicating that most of the king rooms had no bathtubs (roll in showers for handicapped people).

After numerous phone calls to Disney asking for ANY information, I finally got a CM at the desk of WL who confirmed that all king bed rooms at WL are handicapped accessible with a roll-in shower; no bathtub.

I would imagine that the actual room is identical to all of the others. The only difference would be the bathroom (no tub).

I called and changed my reservations to a queen room instead.

When I stayed at Disney's Hilton Head resort, we had a room with the roll-in shower and I hated it. I'm sure it's a blessing for the people confined to a wheelchair, and I'm glad Disney is providing this service, but I enjoy taking a bubble bath after a long day in the parks

Sometimes the bathrooms are bigger in an accessible room, making everything else a little smaller. Or the sink outside the bathroom isn't there, and is in the bathroom instead, to give more room to move around. I can't say if this is true at WL, but some of the studios at DVC resorts and other non-disney hotels have a slightly different layout for the handicapped rooms.

I wish Disney had more rooms with king beds! I can understand why they don't (more rooms for families) but it sure would be nice with just 1 kid in a crib!

I totally agree.

Also, Disney should really be upfront about this when you make your reservations. Had I not been a member of these boards, I would have never known about the King bedroom situation.

I think that CRO should advise people about the bathroom situation prior to confirming the reservation. What if someone had a baby that they needed bathe in a tub? You can't put an infant in the shower!

DW and I had one of these rooms for our honeymoon and I will just say that the large shower makes a good Honeymoon room

Don't recall any difference in the size of the rest of the room compared to "normal" rooms. If anything, they may have been a little bigger to allow wheelchairs to move more freely.
