We are planning on disney in Nov...We have 3 adults..my husband, myself & grandma & 2 kids.
Do we go for a 1 or 2 br? and any opinions on the best resort to choose?
Thanks! Jan

Looks like you'll need a 2 bedroom unless one of the kids is under the age of 3.

The one bedroom would have a king in the bedroom and a pull out sofa in the living room. The 2 bedroom would have this plus a second bedroom with either 2 beds or a bed and a pull out couch.

I think I would still go with the 2 bedroom even if one of the kids was under 3. Just more space for everyone and 2 bathrooms.

Good luck.:D

Unless one of the kids is still an infant you probably want to go with a 2BR. Some 1BR's are rated for 5 people, but if you can afford the points, go for a 2 BR.

As to resort, that's way too dependant upon personal tastes...but at this late of a date you may not have much choice in resorts--OKW with its larger number of rooms may be the only resort with a 2BR open. VwL, BWV and BCV tend to reserve much more quickly. OKW will cost fewer points so that would be a benefit.

Good luck,
Joe
(who is waiting to see if this turns into a 'my home is better' or a '5 person in a 4 occupancy room' thread. :)

How old are your children? Studios and 1 bdrm villa's only accomodate 4 (or 5 if one child is under 3 and can sleep in a pak-n-play).

Does grandma mind rooming with the kids? A 2bdrm will give you an extra bdrm with 2 extra beds and then still have the pull out sofa in the living room, whereas a 1bdrm will give you a king bed in the master bdrm and then the pullout sofa in the living room and that's it.

Personnally, I love OKW (my home resort). Much more spacious and can park in front of my villa;) But it will depend on the theming you like for yourselves and availibility as to where you'd be most comfortable.

Best of luck deciding!

First off, I notice that you live in NJ. Are you planning on coming down during Convention week? If you are, there is almost no availability at any of the DVC resorts for that week. I was at a home show last night and was talking to one of my neighbors who also is a DVC member. They are going that first week of November, and are trying to get a 1 or 2 bedroom at ANY DVC resort and there is no availability (they currently have a studio booked). They currently are on the waitlist, so if that's when you're planning on going, if you're locked into that week, I'd really consider looking into other places to stay. I'd also book a 2 bedroom with that many people. As previously stated a 1 bedroom only holds 4 people plus one child under the age of 3, and also only one bathroom.

OK, I have the idea the 2br is the way to go,,,kids are 3 & 6....didn't know about the convention...just bad picking of time on my part....we are pretty flexible on dates...my husband would like to stay at the wilderness lodge or beach club.....can anyone get us a reservation? if so, email me...bsid@localisp.com I have already posted on the rent board.
thanks, Jan

This implies you're not currently a DVC member. If so you want to check the rent/trade board.

You can always call CRO and see if there is room(s) available for cash but that would probably be significantly higher in price than renting someone's points.
