Info for Celiacs/Wheat Allergies

For those who have been asking about the availability of wheat/gluton free items at local markets, I took a look through Publix Saturday morning. In the Natural/Organic section they had a decent variety of wheat/gluton free items.

I found W/GF pasta (rice pasta), flour, pre-made and mix cookies, several W/GF dressings made with balsamic vinegar, some other condiments such as a soy sauce, and a variety of snack items. What I did NOT find was ketsup. So I'd bring that along if you'll need it. It might have been there and I missed it, or they might have been out of it.

Some of the cookies were also dairy/egg free as well BTW.

So if you'll have a car, it might be easier to take a trip to Publix than to bring everything from home.

If anyone has anything specific they'd like me to look for, let me know and I'll be happy to do so.

Do you know where the closest Publix to the resorts would be? Is there one close to WDW? If you have an address or directions, I'd be very grateful!

It depends on which resort you are staying at. Generally speaking Orange Lake is one of ths closest. At the light just before AKL, take a left and follow to the next light (route 192) Turn right and drive about a mile or so, it will be on your right.

There are others in the area that might be more convenient if you are staying in the DTD/FW area.

And like I said, feel free to ask and I'll look for specific items.

Thanks for the info!! DS is highly allergic to wheat, soy, dairy, beef, eggs and a TON of other things. We were gonig ot bring all his food down for the week when we go, I never thought of buying it when we get there!

If we're not renting a car, is there any way to get to a Publix from the Contemporary?

You could take a very expensive cab ride. It would be easy to rent a car for a day though. I read your other post, and they have rice milk at Publix as well.
