Inflatable Lawn Decorations

In my neighborhood, most of the inflatables are up during the day and night. But then, we do live on the "good" side of the trailer park:rotfl2:

:rotfl:
I guess I live on the good side too.
People around here keep them inflated all the time, including us ::yes::

i have 7 inflatables and dont have any problem with noise, they arent loud at all, but quiet.

But you live in Raymond... you aren't sleeping with your windows open in December... when I lived in Hooksett, I wasn't either... then I smartened up and moved to FL...

i understand that but i dont see why someone would leave them up all night, just running up the electric bill more lol. i turn mine off before i go to bed. lol :)

Doesn't make much sense to me either... but half of our neighborhood leaves them on 24/7. They are the same ones who never seem to turn their porch lights off either... the electric meters in our neighborhood spin like tops...

BTW- thanks TF... I see you're still lurking on this thread...

whatever makes people happy i always say :goodvibes and you said you used to live hooksett, what a small world :wave2:

Just one inflatable- and I set up an additional spot light so Frosty the Snowman really glows bright at night. He is on a timer and spends his days in a melted state. :rolleyes1

I think having Frosty adds a "Griswald like touch" to our Christmas display, and just makes it more fun looking. I have only counted 1 more Frosty in our neighborhood, there seem to more Santas and Grinches.

I started out liking them when they first appeared, but they are seriously overdone in my neighborhood. Our lots are very small and people put up so many of them. Some have 4 or 5 on a small lawn. Christmas decorations are the one thing I hate about my neighborhood, it's a real mixed bag of tastes but no one seems to notice that we have very small properties and they keep adding more and more every year. Th globe is kind of cute though, in the right spot....

A house in my neighborhood has put a giant Santa at the nativity. Their yard is too small to seperate them... and well... it's odd to see Santa standing next to Joseph.

I'm waiting for it to blow over and smother Baby Jesus. I will be running to get my camera when that happens =)

I have two, an inflatable Santa and snowman that my parents gave us two Christmas' ago. We put them out last year. They are cute, but didn't really go with the rest of our outdoor decor. This year we left them in the box and stuck with the clear lights around the house.

At least they aren't as bad as the Santa landing lights that I saw at Target....

What do those look like? Are they red and green? If so, I think my neighbor has them all around her driveway, they look really bad. :earseek:

I don't care what other people put in their yards. The only one I would even consider buying would be the Mickey one. I don't like to put up stuff that everyone else has. Never did the icicle lights thing...as pretty as they are everyone has them up. My SIL thinks my yard is tacky....she never told me outright, but while looking at ads in the newspaper a store had decorations on sale and she pointed to one of the pictures and said.."when we get into our new house I won't put up any of these tacky decorations at Christmas, I'm doing the clear lights and thats it, the clear lights are so upscale, colored lights are trashy." OK.....I have colored (multi) lights on my tree inside and outside my house, PLUS the picture she pointed at was something I have in my yard! Now it's a big joke, I bought something to put outside and my kids are saying "Oh Mom, that's so tacky..we live in an upscale area, how could you put that up?" Thing is SIL does not live in an upscale area, she lives in one of the oldest sections of the town and it is not all that great of a neighborhood.

:rotfl2: At least you have a good sense of humor about it.

I don't get the fascination with the all-white or all-blue lights. :confused3 I've seen some houses that look absolutely gorgeous with a theme like that, but then everybody and his brother tries to decorate like that, and it just looks boring. We drive past this one upscale neighborhood every Christmas eve to look at lights (we drive all over town) and I think it must be in their HOA to only use white lights because every house looks the same -- but then there's this one house that puts this skinny purple tree in their picture window, which would normally look bizarre, but guess which one we like looking at the best?

I like colored lights. And I've seen those big fat bulbs making a comeback too, which is really charming.

Another thing I've noticed that more and more people are doing is the wreath in the window with a single candle. Beautiful, but then when everybody does it, it's blah.

Viva la difference!

I think the "wreath/candle" is a total New England thing.

Driving around last night with DH...loved looking at all the lights...colored and white...I did pass by an "over inflatable" yard...heheh...I think I counted 7 or 8 as DH zipped by it. heheheh

I saw one interesting use of those light up candy-canes...they had fashioned them into a "tree"...

I see some of these houses just decorated to the HILT with lights...DH would kill me...we have 10 candles in our windows, lighted garland over the mantle and down the staircase...and that alone jacks up our electric bill enough for him to notice! heheheh

Ok fess up - who did it?

Inflatable Moose, Snow Globe Stolen From Warwick Front Lawn

POSTED: 10:46 pm EST December 7, 2005
UPDATED: 11:09 pm EST December 7, 2005

WARWICK, R.I. -- Police said they are looking for a thief who swipes holiday decorations right off of front lawns, NBC 10 News reported.

One Warwick family said they went to bed at around 10 p.m., and when they woke up, their inflatable moose, snow globe and lit tree were gone.

"My kids were quite upset because they loved that moose of all things, you know," said one family member. "It was like Christmas was all about -- the moose. They loved it. I'd like to have it back in our yard."

Anyone with information is asked to call Warwick police.

Our neighbor across the street just put up 2 great inflatables yesterday. One is a tree with some snowmen around it, and the other one is a big present with a teddy bear that goes up and down inside of it. Very cute :goodvibes

Behold, for I bring you glad tidings of great joy. Unto you shall be born a moose. :confused3

(Guess that would make it a ChrisMOOSE)
