All of the snorkeling excursions are for 6-8 and up......are no toddlers allowed? Can you take a toddler with a float who will obviously not be snorkeling but just be "with you"?

Hmmmmm... even if you do go on your own please be careful. There are so many beautiful things to look at under the water that it's easy to get distracted from what's on top. JMHO. Have a great cruise.

You will not be able to bring anyone under the age that is listed for the excursion if the minimum child age is over 3. It is for insurance purposes and DCL won't allow you to bring the infant. As indicated earlier, if you want to go on a snorkle excursion with a child that is under the age limit, you'll have to book with a non-DCL vendor yourself. We plan on doing the same thing in Grand Cayman, since our DS will only be 3 1/2.

lilly, I know you've probably post it before somewhere, but what age are we talking?
I only ask because if you're talking non-swimming age infant/toddler, then be sure to get a life-vest in addition to the float. Sometimes the water can get pretty 'splashy' depending on where you're snorkeling.
My DD is 3 (well, 4 April 8th) and she already has her own snorkeling gear and really enjoyed being out in the water on our last cruise. So if we're talking swimming age, take them alone, they'll really enjoy the 'fishies'.

Samantha will be 18 months....as far as one of us wandering away.....
we did the snorkel thing in Jamacia, and yes it is beautiful but I know DH loves to do it a lot more than I. I would love for me to be able to accompany him and maybe just play in the water with our daughter while he snorkels. I just don't know if that is doable or not.

It would be doable if you book it yourself with an outside vendor. You will not be able to accompany him if he books a DCL excursion with the baby.
