I have a question.....has anyone be able to request a rocker in the disney hotels? we are staying at AKL in November & i was wondering if that was possible. i know abbf has some, but we won't be in the room that much (i hope) so i wasn't sure about rening one....esp since we'll have a crib & that will take up alot of room.
suggestions?

I've never seen a rocker in a room. Don't know if they even have them. I kind of doubt it.

How about a nice bumpy bus ride instead?

We take a birth ball with us and bounce dd on it. It doesn't take up too much extra room although it can be a challenge to inflate it...dh blows it up alternating a small hand pump with his own hot air.

I believe I read somewhere that the AKL has some quiet areas with rockers situated throughout the resort. Perhaps you could just use one of those when needed and if the child goes to sleep, then just carry them back to the room. A little inconvenient, but better than stumbling over one in the room all the time. The rooms are not that big and have little space to spare.

i may try to do without the rocker & if i need one later i'll call abbf.com to get one.....
and thanks for the idea about the rockers around the lodge...i didn't even think of that!!!

There are rocking chairs all over the Wilderness Lodge. We just pulled one into the room and kept it there for our entire trip. The housekeeper saw it and didn't say anything. It was a BIG help with the baby.

I can't believe that you actually took a rocking chair from the lobby and kept it in your room. That is a bit over the line in my book and selfish to boot.

Check out this website. They rent baby supplies for the Orlando area and offer rocking chair rentals. I have read many good things about this company on this board.

I use a physio-ball (birthing ball) at home for a rocking chair. It's been a life saver because DD is a very high need baby. The combination of rocking and bouncing at the same time is very effective. You can pick them up for $10-$15 anywhere you'd find sporting goods (got mine at KMart.) They come with a foot pump.

As an added bonus, my 3 yo DS thinks it's a great toy.
