Infants, Laps, and Lap Bars

Hello! We will be traveling to WDW soon for the first time with our DD, who will be almost 7 months at the time. I've looked and haven't been able to find an answer to this question and I know you fine folks here will be able to help. That said...

What are the rules/regulations for an any-age/any-height ride (Haunted Mansion, for example) that has a lap bar? Does the kid (baby, in our case) have to be sitting on the seat or can she sit on DW's or my lap?

I know the rules are loose with non-lap-bar rides, such as PotC and IASW, but I haven't been able to find the answer to this one. Anyone have experience with this?

We had a 1 1\2 year old and I held him in mu my lap for most so he could see better.

We took our DS at the same age and was able to ride tons of things. We used a sling or a stroller or becco carrier depending on the day. The ring sling was good for standing in lines and then I could just shift it around to hold on tightly to him while riding rides. Any dark ride was fine, since I just held onto him tightly (especially with the POTC drop.). He loved those rides. Lapbars weren't a big deal, the CMs either put them over his lap were I was holding him or I would put it over my lap and then hold him over that bar.

I did not do this:

Ride any thrill rides like the coasters with him
Ride any spinny rides like the Teacups
Ride Dumbo - we saved that for his 1 year birthday. I also figured it would be a huge hassle.

Rides he LOVED:

POTC (except for this year - I guess the fire scared him?)
HM
People mover
Monorail, Railroad, and parking lot tram
Peter pan
Safari (both Jungle and Kilimanjaro)

If you have any concerns - ask a CM at the ride. They usually know the rides limits more than the maps do. Good luck and happy riding!!!

One thing we had happen- pretty sure it was Snow White, so it's irrelevant, but my now 4 y/o daughter was 18 mos. I was carrying her asleep and they made me turn her to face out so the lap bar wasn't against her spine. She was so deeply asleep she didn't notice.

She also sleep through the entire safari. And Ellen's energy adventure.

And 18mos later: Chef Mickey.

I have brought all my children when they were around 15 months old. I have always ridden with them on my lap. It was never an issue. I think I may have even had them on my lap at the age of 2. Though, we dont do coaster type stuff.

My son was 5.5 months and 8 months during Disney trips. He always rode on our laps with no problems. And we took him on dumbo and he LOOOVED it. Although his favorite ride is Winnie the Pooh. Have fun!

The youngest baby we ever brought was 5 months old and he sat on our laps on the rides.
