What has been your experience. We will be going with our 6month old and Dneice 12 months.

I've had mixed responses from DD. On our first trip with her to WDW last Feb. she was 14months and she went crazy upset when we saw Wishes. But then we went back in April (16 months) and she didn't react to them at all, she actually slept through them. We'll see what happens in a week and a half!

DD, now 3, visited Disney Land about 10 times from birth on - with no problems with fireworks. DS was 8 months old when we took him last. He didn't have a problem with it either. I always held our babies during fireworks and after the first "bang", would smile and laugh so they would know it was a fun thing. Often times babies will look for their parent's reaction to something - if you stay calm, they probably will too.

My 8yo was never scared of fireworks as a baby or toddler. My 2yo (almost 3) loved them up until about 2.5, then went through about a 4 month stage of being scared of them (of course, our WDW trip was smack dab in the middle of that!) Now she's starting to like them again. It was the noise that bothered her. If we could watch from farther away, she still liked them, and now, she has learned to cover her ears.

My DS (2.5) cant get enough of fireworks! He loves them & has ever since he was an infant.

DD first saw the fireworks at 2 weeks. She looked at them intensly, or as intensly as a 2 week old can. No crying at all. She has been around 4th of July fireworks as we are premitted to do them here.

I think it's a mixed bag for kids. If your little one has been around loud noises then they may be fine. Who knows. I would suggest that you hold the little one just incase they are afraid of the loud noises.

As you can tell, infants and toddlers are mixed bags when it comes to fireworks. My DN, who will be 3 in April, hate them! It started with our trip to WDW in Jan 2004 when she was 9 months. She cried and hid her eyes at the sight of them. The next July 4th fireworks in 2004 & 2005, she didn't improve. Our most recent WDW trip in Dec 2005, got this result:

Keep in mind. This was in the MK parking lot... in the car...miles away. And she is still scared. You know when you go to the opening page of the disneyworld website and they show the Happiest Celebration video with Walt. At the end, they have Cinderella's castle with fireworks going off...my DN cries at that! Oh well maybe when she gets older, she see the magic in them. Hopefully...
