I have an upright electrolux vacuum. Long story short it is under warranty and they are suppose to send me a brand new one. Well, because of mistakes they have made and people dropping the ball I still do not have my vacuum five weeks later. I can't wait anymore. Does anymore know a vacuum for about $150.00 that works well? I am so frustrated that I have to go out and get a new one because of their mistakes.

I have a Shark Navigator Lite Lift Away that you could buy for about that much. It's a great vacuum. Very lightweight, picks up great, and the canister pops off to use on steps, etc. I had to replace mine about 2 months ago and went with this one based on great reviews from here and online. I've been very happy with it and it would be a good 2nd vacuum if you keep it when your other one is finally delivered.

I've had my Eureka Boss SmartVac for about 9-10 years and it works really well. It has so much suction dust bunnies will literally float and get sucked into the path of the vacuum.

If I were to get a new vacuum, I'd get a Shark Rotator Professional...not sure if that's within your budget but I think it's close.

I ended up buying the Shark navigator upon recommendation of stephMK and a friend of mine. So far so good. I am surprised by how much it picks up. There looks like there is nothing on the rug and the cannister fills quickly. I also was very lucky that I got it on sale at Kmart for 109.99. Bummed I had to buy one as Electrolux is a horrible company to work with but I love this vacuum so far. Thank you.

Assuming you are still getting your original vacuum back, I would purchase the least expensive vacuum I could find. Any vacuum will work short term.

ooops- just read that you already bought something new. Glad the new one is working for you. Yes agree, bummer that Electrolux is such a horrible company to work with, you should not have had to buy a new one at all!

I wanted to mention that I bought a Shark lift off from QVC. Recently I had an issue with the motor turning the brush once or twice, then stopped. It was well out of warranty.
After the customer service had me do a few things like checking for a blocked hose, he told me he would send a new power head.

Within days I had the new head free and free shipping. All the parts just snap off so it was a simple press a release and slip on the new head.

I have an Orek for the most part, but my shark for stairs and all the floor, furniture and other cleaning. Especially great with the attachments for the car and RV.

THIS...I bought my son a $39.99 Dirt Devil upright bagless for his apartment five years ago and it still works perfectly fine. If all you need is an interim vacuum that will eventually become a "backup", buy the cheapest one you can find.

I have this one too and love it. Got it last Jan at Sams club for $125.

I just picked up a cheap Dirt Devil at Target the other day. It was on sale for around $35. It is really light weight and is easy to lift up the stairs. It works wonderfully, and when it dies in about a year or two, I'll just pick up another cheap one. I just don't understand how people can buy those $1000+ kirbys. They are heavy and clunky. Who cares if they have a lifetime guarantee, who would want a 30 year old vacuum??
