dear all

A good friend of mine was finally matched with a foster child who is adoptable. When the toddler was dropped off yesterday, all she was wearing was some dirty boys clothes --she is a 3 year old girl-- She didn't come with really anything else. I can't begin to tell you how wrong I think this toddler has been treated by previous foster families. I also can't begin to tell you how poorly the foster children system are treated.

But my friend has means, a very good job and is going to be a good mother. Now, she just needs to outfit her with all the toys, clothes ect she needs.
I would like to help by purchasing a lot of nice quality, soft, warm clothes for her. Does anyone have ideas as to what online stores have good sales, and nice clothes? or coupon codes? THe toddler needs everything from soup to nuts.
Any info would be appreciated.

Old NAvy always has really good online prices as well as low shipping!!! I don't know of any codes, but at least it is a place to start!!!!
Good luck to your friend...don't forget love can change people!!!!

I would check old navy, baby gap, nordstum, the bon. Sorry I dont shop on line for cloths. Maybe put in kids clothing stores and see what you come up with. You will be able to find tons of things on clearence. Good luck and I know what you mean about the system.

Aw! I am happy that the little girl has been placed in a loving home! I always find great deals at Target for little girls. They always have sales in the infant/toddler section on coordinating pants, tops and sweaters for the fall/winter and shorts and tees/tanks in the summer. On sale the items are about $4-$8 and off sale $6-$10. I buy them all the time as I think the quality is good.

Also, I buy clothes and sneakers/shoes from Toys R us! I ALWAYS find great deals in there. They frequently run % off promos on their clothes and I like the fact that they come in sets. They run 50% off promos on the shoes/sneakers including clearance and I always get brand name sneakers (New Balance, Nike, Reebok, Skechers) for DD6 and DD3. I look for the clearance ones and they usually are on clearance for $20. Then I get 50% off of that! If I get to the sale early enough, I get a couple of pair for each in the next size up. Great deal!

Old Navy will send coupons via email if you sign up online. Children's place sends mailers and emails with coupons and also run great sales.

I also go end of the season to shop for the next season at JCPenney. They have great clearance sales and good quality clothing.

HTH! I have 4 girls so I have to try to get the best bang for my buck! :teeth:

Childrens Place and Disney Store usually have 50% off of clearance prices 2-4 times a year. I also like going to the childrens place outlet. Target has great clearance prices I just got pants for my kids there for $2 each and a shirt for my daughter for $2. They have a lot on clearance now in my area. Also, we have childrens resale shops in our area that have brand name things for really great prices.

See if you have a Once Upon A Child or Children's Orchard in your area; these are resale chains that usually do pretty good quality control on what they will accept. I buy almost all my kids clothing at OUAC, with only 5-6 new items a year.

If the child needs a full wardrobe, resale is going to be the best way to go. She should be able to get her a closet full of things, including winter coats and boots, for around $100 at a good resale shop. You can often find very good quality things for no more than 40% of what you would pay for them retail, and you usually don't have to worry about shrinkage; they have already been washed, so they have done all the shrinking they are likely to do. The only thing she will need to get at retail is underthings/everyday shoes. For the underthings I suggest Penneys. Penney's underwear is good quality that will not shrink like FOTL or Hanes will. Kohl's and Marshall's tend to have great deals on childrens' shoes.

I have actually found some really good deals during Gymboree sales. No where near "cheap" but OP did mention good quality. You really can't begin to match the quality of Gymboree with Old Navy. Old navy looks old after a few washes. Yes I do buy from there but I like to add a few nice pieces from Gymboree.

I like Kohls too for the kids clothes. They have some good brands you can buy on great sales. I try to buy for the next year when they have their clearance sales.

The Childrens Place has decent prices and usually a code can be found. IMO they are between Gymboree and Old Navy in quality.

I hope the little girl can overcome her past and thrive in her new loving home.

I like Children's Place, there's usually a 15% coupon out. I also use JCPenney, right now they have free shipping for orders over $49 I think I read, otherwise their shipping can get astronomical.

Join the freecycle in your area- and post your want for girl clothes size 3T-4T. I just got rid of a bunch of my gap stuff to a freecycler- for FREE! I wanted it out of my house and to go to someone that would use it not sell it for rags. I also was ticked off at the resale clothes shop when I brought in some stuff- some still had tags(janie and jack, gap and hanna andersson) He picked out what he wanted and offered me $9. I go in the next day and see him selling one of the sweaters for $25(HELLO what kind of a mark up does he get on used clothes!) I think I'll give it away thank you.
Good luck to your friend and her new daughter,
Oh and some cheap places to buy stuff new I like the basics from old navy and target(cherrokee brand holds up well) And I shop landsend clearance online- here is an example in her size
http://www.landsend.com/cd/ov/prod/...00.html?sid=8620168612804102690&CM_MERCH=SRCH
You can punch in her size and a price like $10 and everything that comes up will be under $10

Another vote for Childrens Place. There clothes are cute and very affordable and hold up well till she outgrows them. Check out the sale/clearance stuff b/c alot of it is still in season but because they get clothes in constantly the turn over is high and sales are great. If you have a Childrens Place near you, I would go there vs online - sometimes they have socks, hairaccessories, pocketbooks, just cute stuff generally that you can pick up really inexpensive ( I have filled my DD4 dress up chest with alot of deals from here - leopard prints, hats, belts, purses, etc.)

Your a great friends to help out :goodvibes

I just got a HUGE bag of stuff for $50 on the 80% off orig price @Kohls --I got these for next summer--don't know what your weather is but you can usually find some GREAT deals--I got 2T outfits for $2. Also, Child Place was having a great 30% off additional markdown price last weekend & you got another 15% w/coupon....these were actually fall clothes I got.

I can find great deals on landsend.com the overstock section. Sizes run a little smal though. Also, if you watch Gymboree (which IMHO) are the best quality children's clothes re: washer wear and stain removal -- you can get really good bargains -- I bought my DD(4) a shirt for $6 that was originally priced at 19.99. I search ebay too for good deals which are becoming rare -- brands I like are Flap Happy Wee Winter Woolies, Chicken Noodle and Zoodle (although I don't think Zoodle's quality is worth the price compared to Gymboree). I like Children's Place for my DS(10) but I'm not fond of their line for little girls (too grown up looking for my taste).
