Inexpensive place relatively close to Epcot?

Howdy all! Next cruise, we're flying out two days ahead of time. I'm going to rent a car at the airport and we want to spend that one afternoon/evening (will be a Thursday) at Epcot. Gotta get our Epcot fix in, especially since we had to cancel our upcoming December trip. As much as I'd love to just stay at ASMo or something, even a DC rate is going to be higher than I want to pay. We'll be at the Radisson at Port Canaveral that next night, and I'm kinda splurging on that already. I'd just like to find a pretty inexpensive place for that one night, where it wouldn't be horribly far to drive to Epcot. This will be for right at the end of January, BTW. Any ideas?

Thanks!!

HI,

What I would suggest you do is bid on Priceline. It is one of the ways you are going to be able to get a cheap hotel in the Disney Area. From what I have learned all of the hotels in the area offer free shuttle service to/from Epcot.

If you think you may want to use Priceline I would advise you to go to the website www.biddingfortravel.com first. It will help you understand how to bid, and the various hotels that come up on winning bids.

There are some hotels that are offering cheap rates after Septemeber. What are your dates?

Gina, try looking at the Hotel Discounts page here on the DIS for a few useful (and great value) options:

The HoJo Maingate and Holiday Inn Maingate East both look pretty good valuye at the moment.

we stayed at Magic Cstle Inn and suites.

It was clean and inexpensive and they have a free breakfast.

I have pictures if you email me I will send them to you if you think this place suits your needs.:D

Thanks for the suggestions, you guys! I'm still trying to figure out where the different hotel areas are, though... if I remember reading right, there are two main areas, correct? I-Drive and something else. Does it matter for my purpose of being closer to Epcot? I don't want to rely on "scheduled transportation" so I'm going to drive to Epcot. Can anyone point me to a map or something that shows where these hotels might be in relation to WDW?

Thanks again!!

Magic Castle is 3.5 miles to WDW maingate. It is on US192 and we drove to Epcot in a bout 10 minutes even with traffic. I'm not sure of others...
Hope this helps:D

Gina, if you're driving, the choice is really between the I-Drive area (which can be a bit busy, but has the broadest choice of accommodation; around 20 minutes to Epcot given a trouble-free run); Lake Buena Vista (the closest to Epcot, hence only 5-10 mins away, although there are few budget-priced choices here); and Highway 192, where there are most of the budget-priced properties (including HoJo and HIME; only around 10 mins to Epcot).

Closest off site hotels to EPCOT would be in the area of Caribe Royale, HIFS, MOWC...Caribe Royale and HIFS offers a breakfast buffet which may help offset the cost otherwsie try PL but you may have a drive.

I used priceline for Disney Area, and I followed Bidding for travel's strategies. I was awarded the Renassiance World resort. I am here now, and I can tell you for $40 a night including tax and fees you can't beat it. It is more than I expected.

All of the hotels that come up for 3* are nice. I would highly reccomend you go that route. Besides, they all have transportation to Epcot

Thanks again for all the suggestions! I decided to take the Priceline advice, since that is where I usually turn for airport hotel ressies. I really needed to do this as dollarle$$ as possible, since I'm splurging the next night on the Radisson. I ended up with the Ramada Eastgate for $20, and figured that would be fine for the one night. I'll have the rental car anyway, so we'll just drive to Epcot. I would have liked to stay at some of the places y'all mentioned, but for just one night, it didn't make sense to spend the money.

Thanks again!
